Groves must stop De Gale from coming foward..........

I dont put too much stock in the Anderson performance, as I think you could see before they fought that Groves could potentially run into these kind of problems against the right type of fighter. I do agree though, that fight will of mind conditioned him, he knows he can pull through a balls to the wall fight.

Head 2 head, Groves just has more flaws in his technique that are exploitable imo.

 

I also have a question mark about Groves's ability to shorten his punches up, as he might be one of those fighters who instead of shortening up, will take a step a back when someone encroaches into his range, instead of shortening up, only there are only so many times you can do this before your back hits the ropes, where by you have been maneuvered out the middle of the ring, and as we've established, that is not to his advantage.

I think if you watch their amateur fight, you can see that Groves is fighting on nervous energy, he seems to be skipping in and out of range quite erratically, now I think that will become a lot more apparent if De Gale stalks him off the front and is cutting the ring down at the same time, he will feel the mental pressure to have to get off first, which could lead to him mounting attacks at the wrong times, when he doesn't want to.

I think De Gale makes this fight a lot easier if he comes foward, maintains a consistent jab and controls range, cuts the ring off.
