I know I've probably misspelled Groves opponent from last night but anyway regardless I've just read on the BBC some bad news about him, apparently in the changing room after the fight he fell ill and was taken to hospital where he's actually had surgery so it sounds pretty alarming.
Never seen the fight and from reading Gilfoids article he made it sound like it was a close fight,it was only when I checked on here that it was anything but, even Groves before he knew about his opponent falling ill said that he gave him a real beating and was surprised he lasted the twelve rounds,he said the guy was very tough.
I wonder,I know it's the pros and every effort should be made to give the guy a chance to come back but really I wonder if his corner should have stopped it after it was clear he was done?

It wasn't close at all, there were exactly two close rounds and 10 clear Groves rounds, three or four of which were real beatings.

And yes, his corner probably should've stopped it earlier.

It was not a close fight at all. EG had his brief moments early on when he managed to push GG back on the ropes but from round 6 beyond it was a brutal one sided beating from GG. EG's eye closed up so he could not see any of the hard rights to his temple yet his idiotic corner kept him in there when he had lost every single round except perhaps the third.

Idiotic corner work. GG boxed very well. EG has the heart of a lion.

I heard he stopped breathing in the ambulance and had to be revived. Scary stuff.

Oh **** that's not good,it's those twelve round prolonged beatings that seem more dangerous than the flash KO?

Damn didn't realise he was in such a bad way when they said he was hospitalised. I hope he recovers and gets well soon.

The fight didn't seem particularly grueling though he did take more punishment than he should have in those later rounds. I wonder if he was drained at the weight, his last 2 fights were at light heavy.

100% they are more dangerous. It's rare one punch has lasting damage in isolation but EG took many, many heavy blows and really, after the ninth, should have been pulled out of the fight: eye closing, shipping punches and without a game-changing punch of his own. Fingers crossed he's ok.

He took a lot of punches that would have knocked out many a fighter. It's these tough son of a guns that take a good shot who are vulnerable to lasting damage...

Yeah right,Nick Blackwell the same in that he was so tough against Eubank,it's those guys that need protecting from their corner so that they come back another day.
In MMA they take losses as part of the game whereas in boxing nowadays a loss is seen as end of the road almost?

And you can blame Mayweather for that attitude towards taking a loss.

Sad to hear this news. I thought he was taking a hell of a beating in those latter rounds and was impressed with how tough and brave he was. I hope he gets well soon.
