In the Sun today. Groves has turned down the fight because he was only offered 150k. Quite ridiculous if you ask me he only got 300k for the first Froch fight.

Really disapointed in him for that decision, you would think with him having never won a title he would love the oppourtunity.

I thought as a mandatory Groves is entitled to a certain % split so he would have known what he was getting himself into going the WBC route? The ideal situation would be Froch vacates and Groves faces Degale for the vacant title, but it doesn't seem like that will happen right now.

80% 20% Split is normal so 150k sounds about right

I would go to purse bids if that is the offer.

I just bought the Sun can't see anything about it but a lot are going on about it on facebook. If this is true about Groves it's a case of prima donna syndrome similar to Tyson Fury saying Klitschko isn't offering him enough even though he has been offered the mandatory purse. What does he expect 50/50?

Anyway Groves may feel he is the bigger name but regardless of that Dirrell is the champion a beatable one at that and Groves has never even held a world title so he loses a lot of respect from me for this if it is true.

Dirrell/Groves is hardly enticing as far as title fights go. 150k is a fair offer for Groves who doesn't have any big wins himself.

Sauerland might have told him to reject as he could get him a bigger payday at home.

Dirrell is a risky fight for Groves though. Dirrell is not an easy opponent and if Groves lost, his career would be in tatters. 150k is not that much dosh for such a risk.

I doubt he has turned down the fight by the way. Just turned down a low offer when he could get more from going to purse bids if he had to.

Although with them talking about "massive news coming" maybe they are going in a different direction...

I think with the WBC the champion gets 25% of the purse so if Groves is getting 150k means Dirrell is only getting 400k.

let him get on a plane with paddy and his brief gone fly to the wbc head office with thier evidance that he is worth more in toe , start crying and whinging and then wack that appeal in , he needs to remember he is 2-2 in his last four fights
