Groves Set To Fight In Vegas On Undercard Of Mosley-Berto

    How come there are no threads on this? HUUUUUGE exposure for Britain's best prospect and ODLH made the decision to put him on the card himself. If he comes through a fight on the 22nd unscathed and victorious, he will fight on the undercard in Vegas the following week.

    Talking of the prospect of fighting on the card, Groves said: "Dave's (Haye) face dropped and he said 'I haven't even boxed in Vegas!'. I think he's a bit jealous.":lol:

    What do you make of this? Nothing but good moves in Groves' progression thus far, IMO: fantastic sparring; looking fantastic in each fight; getting praise from huge names in the sport; now on a huge undercard in Vegas!:happy

    Who has he got on the 22nd?

    Or is it TBA? :lol:

    I'd be tempted to pull out of that date to ensure a slot on the big card.....

    Yep, nothing confirmed and it'll be some last minute Latvian on order probably. Agreed that he should ditch the date, but apparently Sky want him on that card on the 22nd. Also, if he fights on the Mosley-Bero undercard, OLDH has promised him a 'tough Mexican':think.

    Hmmmm a tough Mexican would be great.

    The fight against the German was excellent, a pretty much un-KO'able opponent, who had been in with decent guys and given them eight or sometimes ten hard rounds.

    If the Mexican would be something similar it would aid his development no end - I'd be half tempted to **** the domestic scene off for a bit and do an undercard tour, taking ten round fights against good guys.

    That said, I'd stick him in with any SMW in the UK right now barring Froch and Magee. I rate him that highly.

    I'm just concerned that he is with Frank Maloney.

    He ought to be promoted by Top Rank/GBP or Sauerland..... getting the best fights from all over rather than patsies at York Hall on an undercard, that's assuming Hayemaker don't rise from the ashes.

    Unusually for a British fighter, he actually looks smart in the ring, not just skilful/powerful. Perhaps the best prospect since Lewis.

    I agree with you on Maloney probably not being best for him. Oddly enough, it seems like Booth and Haye still has some sort of control over his future as well, though, so maybe the Maloney deal is only a temporary one so Groves gets back on cards and TV as he was out for ages:think. Who knows.

    As for doing a tour, Booth wants Groves to fight for the British by July so I don't think there's any need for that. For what it's worth, I think Groves will clean up domestically pretty quickly and be moved onto Euro level by the end of the year. It's only good news that Golden Boy appear to be having some sort of input, though. Very interesting indeed:think.

    That's wicked! I never looked at the boxing news this week. Cheers for letting us know Losfer.:good

    Just shows how relevant that magazine is even with the internet you still consistantly hear news and rumours that you won't hear anywhere else for a while.

    That would be great for him if he does. I really like the way Booth is constantly giving him challenges all the time. To think last night's fight with Paul Samuels (who Groves beat in just his third fight really impressively) was an eliminator for the british title and Samuels won. That's what you call calculoated risk for a good prospect.

    As long as he holds his own in sparring and doesn't get that sparring partner type mentality all this globetrotting should be good for him. He might as well step up to title level of some sort though, it really progresses fighters when they get a belt and it brings that extra belief.
