I'm pretty confident Groves was carrying a shoulder injury the whole fight....it just pop'd out in the last round. I noticed in the dressing room or in the ring before the fight started he held it funny. I say in the dressing room or before the fight started as I cant remember exactly when I picked up on it....but it was before the fight started. I haven't watched it back yet to see when. I'm pretty sure it will become apparent he had ongoing shoulder issues in the lead up to the fight. That being said I thought he did brilliantly, not quite as dominant as I expected but if you look at the 'success' Eubank was having....well it wasn't that successful.
The other thing is, he wasn't surprised or excessively worried about it, no reaction. It must have popped out before. Great fighter to not let it show, took the commentators a good long while to clock on.
No Shane clearly stated in the post fight press conference that there were no shoulder issues in camp.
As far as I know there was no rumour. Think we just have to go with Shane on this, it would make Groves look even better if he revealed after the fight that there was a problem. Just seen Groves has a 30 minute post fight IFL interview uploaded so I'm sure he will confirm it there.
Hopefully he'll get back asap .although I would Say it will be 10 week's before he can tentatively start working in the gym
If there were no shoulder issues in camp it's very convenient that they had a shoulder sling to put on him within 30 seconds of the final bell.
do shoulders just pop out? ive witnessed someone dislocate one once and i can still hear the noise he made to this day. and this was a fairly stoic guy, who'd tape broken fingers together and keep playing rugby. but this immobilized him. of course there are different types of injury and people react differently. but a dislocation is usually pretty serious, and when done for the first time, agonizing. and once done, likely to reoccur. he must have damaged it in the past. i cant believe it happened to him the first time and he just kept going. its possible of course and fair play to him in any event because that has got to hurt.
when he hurt it and he rolled his shoulder about to try and fix it, i didn't realise he was hurt at first i though he was mocking Eubank when he does that silly thing where he rolls his shoulders about in fights to show off or whatever.
Funny how Eubank mocked Bellew for not being able to put a one legged fighter away. Well, I appreciate he only had 2 minutes, but you’ve gotta put a fighter with one arm away. Credit to Groves’s toughness that he carried on & rode it out, ducking & weaving and landing shots of his own.
I think if his shoulder never went Junior might well have got stopped as he was exhausted and was badly beaten up.
