I reckon Groves will fight again , possibly a full year out first but I don't see him packing it in just yet.

Good for you 20! Glad you're happy. :) Still think it was a stinker of a fight myself to be honest.

Yup a good long break would be best for him. 9/12 months. Recharge and see what is available, what ambition he has etc. Really shouldn't rush into another training camp

I feel gutted for groves but it was a lovely hook to the temple that scrambled his brains and he was there for the taking after that.
I thought he was doing ok yo until then and the shouoder looked good.

I'm not so sure he's been in a lot of wars in his career and defensively he was poor tonight.

Even before the stoppage i think it was about 3 times he was clean in rounds 3,4 and 6, I think this may be the end for the saint.

I never saw it but did you see a decline in footwork , speed and timing ? Does he looked burnt out/shot or is it just that he is easier to hurt now ?

I don't rate smith all that highly knew he,d be a danger to groves tho. Without seeing the fight callums height nullified Georges best assets.

George has always been much better on the outside. Only got away with the inside fighting because theres been no one capable of making him pay for it recently. Callums assets negated Georges best assets. Same way groves assets negated eubanks assets. Two of the most important things in boxing is still styles make fights and timing. These guys like degale, groves, brook etc are at that stage their outgrowing the weight...but the weight above will be a little bit too much for them. Left it too late to move up. They,d be better moving smith up otherwise he,ll have the same fate at about 30/31/32. Let them grow into the weight when hes still young enough.

Credit to callum smith tonite tho and also Joe Gallagher...he takes a lot of stick...his styles not always entertaining but he deserves a bit of credit for once cause his game plan came through tonight.

Fair play to Moog and twenty because both been calling it for a while.

I don't think tonight had anything to do with Groves fading in his career. He said the shoulder was fine and it looked fine. I think a lot of people underestimated Callum Smith, especially his size.

I picked Groves to win by two points but I'm not surprised by the outcome. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and it showed us that Smith is all wrong for any version of Groves.

Groves is all about the jab and boxing on the outside. Against a heavy handed monster super middleweight like Callum, it proved impossible. Smith's reach was just too long, and he countered everything with heavy shots. George never had a great chin and Callums power is legit.

You might not rate Callum as an elite boxer. Perhaps he isn't. But he is an elite super middleweight, due to his abnormal size. He proved he's got the fundamentals, heavy hands and chin to compliment that freakish build, making him a beast at the weight. I don't see him losing at SMW. He looks like a cruiserweight in there!

Groves will come again. Callum will be no.1 at SMW as long as he can make the weight.

Would prefer Groves to retire. He's been in enough wars and earned enough money. The Froch fights probably took a few years off his career.

I imagine they'll be queuing up to get him on board as a pundit as well.

yeah I think he's just too battle worn, it wasn't on show tonight but in the Eubank fight his power also seems to have faded as well which is a shame.
