Groves sounds a little punch drunk on ringside!

    Groves has always had this sorta heavy breathing and sorta dry mouth rolled outta bed and need a glass of water type speech. I called it a few years back and people wouldn't have it but i do get what you mean Max.

    I think the gym wars and the hits he's taken as a pro as no doubt taking a toll as do to many pro's. People denying Darren Barker's speech i'm a bit shocked i thought it was common knowledge that his speech had deteriorated somewhat after the attack in Watford.

    I absolutely wasn't trolling. Groves to my ears sounded a little f***ed

    I am quite sure at 24 years old he will sound fine in a week.

    He sounded not unlike when I have been out on a massive night out and in the morning, whilst not soundng drunk, I sound sober yet some how still inebriated.

    Maybe I am the only person who can hear Barker and Haye slurring?

    They are not James Toney by any stretch of the imagination, but there is definitely something occurring.

    In my opinion.

    Am sure he got beat up by a gang of kids a few years ago which is why he sounds a little punchy

    Yeah I agree with the Barker assessment, he has definitely become slow and slurred. Haye is fine.

    I think the OP doesn't know the meaning of punch drunk. Groves most certainly wasn't punch drunk and to say Haye is completely ridiculous. The guy sounds the same he did from the early days to now. Even Froch who took one hell of a beating wasn't punch drunk, even if he was a little dazed, which is totally understandable.

    Examples of people who are punch drunk are Evander Holyfield and James Toney.

    Enzo Macrinelli is another who sounds punch drunk to me too.

    I guess you need to know if this is how they have always spoke though.

    Groves appeared to have deteriorated to me.

    But as I said, I am sure it is only temporary in his case. And clearly only very marginal if only one other person can hear what I am hearing.

    At least I am not totally deluded, as most of you seem to agree Barker sounds punchy :good

    I agree totally. Groves has slurred for a while and Bradley had speech issues weeks after the Provodnikov fight. A fight where Bradley like Groves fire fought off ropes although a lot more and a lot more successfully.

    Barker is undoubtedly slurring. Haye i will have to listen more in depth as i hadn't noticed it before with him.

    Haye does too, in my opinion.

    Clearly not from his professional fights as he is almost as hard to hit as Floyd!

    I would think he must spar very hard.

    Some people's heads can take repeated trauma with no ill effects, others it seems to catch up on quite early.

    I am convinced head size plays a part. Nothing you can do about it, they are the genetic cards you are dealt from birth ... I guess you just have to adapt your fight style to be one where you don't get hit.
