I think we're all on the same page with this fight, judging by the Groves/Eubank thread I just read. Eubank has suddenly emerged as a massive threat to the Groves of this world, which would have been laughed at a year ago. Indeed, Eubank is now bookies' favourite...
Two important factors for me: 1) Can Groves hurt Eubank? If he can't, it could be a long night. If he can, it could be a short night. 2) Can Groves establish his jab? When in doubt, I will go with the bigger man who we have seen do the job in the past. Groves for me, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
Groves won`t be able to establish his jab if Eubank constantly jabs the way he did against his last opponent.
Groves didn't impress me...but neither has Eubank. George may be on the slide while eubank is getting better. If I had to I'd put my money on jr. even though I can't stand the posing *****
I really can't see any of the past opponents Eubank has fought giving Groves any trouble. In his last three fights he has been in with Yildirim who is a very slow basic fighter. He took a knee from the first decent punch Eubank landed. Groves would easily KO him. Abraham who is a shadow of his former self. A fighter that now finds it hard to let his hands go and has no footwork. Easy night for Groves. Quinlan who had a record of 11 wins and a loss before fighting Eubank. Quick KO for Groves. Prior to those guys he was fighting very average fighters apart from BJS who beat him. It seems strange that a lot of people are suddenly viewing Eubank as something special, someone who has the tools to defeat Groves when his CV shows no evidence of this. George Groves is a level up from anything Eubank has fought so far. Groves will win this.
I voted groves because I want him to win.. however I got a gut feeling eubank wins... voted with my heart instead of my head on this one haha might regret it.
Groves wins easy, I don't get the hype around Eubank Jr, Saunders beat him easy and if it wasn't for senior he wouldn't be getting the exposure
I think there's an element too here of fight fans getting suckered in by the confidence (whether it's genuine or fake) of a fighter. Many people fell for MacGregor's confidence. So many people bet on him. That's because of MacGregor's self-confidence and self-promotion. Eubank is similar. When I look at him, hear him, see his facial expressions, he has me convinced he knows what he's doing. In actual fact thought he has fought no-one to prepare him for Groves, he is not a puncher, and he is a middleweight.
I'm pretty stunned by the Eubank Jr. Love Train that has been chugging along on this forum for the past 2 years. I just don't see it. I think Groves takes the fight in a close but comfortable decision.
Casual fans may have been fooled by MacGregor's hype, I embraced that as the odds for floyd went from a starting 1/14 to 3/10, made some good cash on that. Disagree, they are not similar is any way. Eubank has a better KO ratio than groves, that may not mean much. He is a good size SMW, not a mW. This is his career defining fight. Cannot wait for them to get it on!
