Groves v Stieglitz will it happen ?

Groves whole plan was to fight on the back foot against Degale. As for Stevenson ive already done a poll on that and Groves came out on top. Groves wont be standing there for Stevenson to hit plus Groves jab will be in Stevenson face all night its more likely groves will break Stevenson down

 

I've got that suspicion as well but feel it is 2 years too soon for Groves.

Put him in with Degale, Magee and Dirrell first.

Groves has the ability to outbox Stevenson, but I just think Stevenson will get to him and hurt him. I'm not convinced of Groves' durability and if you saw Stevenson the other night, I know he was at a higher weight, but he looked a beast and can really hit.

If the fight does happen I'd back Stevenson by KO, as i said, Groves could outbox him, but I'm not sold at all on his durability, those body shots would break George imo

 

I don't know what's happening with Dirrell, but even with his inactivity I think he'd school Groves all night. In terms of ability and natural talent hes up there with Ward. When Ward and Dirrell were scheduled to fight I was picking Dirrell. After he stopped fighting like a chicken ****, from about the 8th round onwards he made Froch look amateur and was bullying Carl towards the end. It's to Carl's favour that Dirrell only remembered he was in a world title fight with like 10 minutes to go

 

Groves should fight Stieglitz, perfect test for him.

Even if he lost its hardly the end of the world.

 

Magee would be a great fight for Groves right now - have said this for a while.

Also, Magee is well known in Denmark.... makes sense for the Froch/Kessler undercard.

 

If the choice for Stieglitz is Groves on an undercard (Froch or Haye) vs rematch with Abraham, he'll definetely go for the big money Abraham rematch.

I imagine if Groves is going the WBO route they'll have to enforce a mandatory. Not that Stieglitz wouldn't want the fight, just that there's bigger money to be made elsewhere.

No.5 Maderna is fighting No.12 Rodriguez on the Monte Carlo card.
Bika just won a WBC eliminator.
Stevenson is fighting Dawson.
Can't see an Anderson fight being made.

So in regards to WBO ranked fights that could serve as an eliminator, that leaves two Africans at 7 & 8, Vlasov at 9, Oosthuizen at 14 and the Japanese fella at 15.

I think if there is a purse bid SES cant win it! They really dont have a lot of money!
But again would be very dumb if this happens. Stieglitz is strongest when he can fight in Magdeburg (He always said this) and he always proved this (never lost in Magdeburg). Also whole Magdeburg would be behind Stieglitz when a brit comes to fight theire champion! Not like against AA were Abraham also had some fans in there.
Also Magdeburg just has one big champion (theire soccer team sucks) so they are even more in boxing.

 

Stieglitz promoter prefers a rubber match with AA first, big money to made there in Germany and probably the fairest option imo. Loses value if Groves nicks his world title and theres nout on the line for it. Can see them rematching June/July time and Groves fighting the winner in Sept

Was it just swollen or is there damage to the orbital bone etc?

 

Remember that Eddie stands to make more money from Froch than he would from Groves (probably), I think its a fair point to say that he'd want to make the fight and for Froch to win. Froch is 100% his fighter whereas Hearn/Booth/Groves are using each other as it suits them now.

I think Eddie will push for a Froch-Groves fight regardless of the Froch-Kessler result. Imagine if Froch loses then Groves wins the WBO, Froch would love that fight!

 

I think it could be more.
That punch from Stieglitz was really mean. Just on the eye and with huge power. Just look at how AA was hurt after that shot. There was huge power behind it.

 

That's a point. Depends what AA wants to do from here he might take a back step and fight the winner of GG and Stieglitz
