I'm not sure how this boxing biz quite works, but seeing as this is a solely dedicated boxing channel, why could they not just have the fights that were left, still on? Surely it does more damage not having the show, no? I'm sure they could have found some mediocre replacement for Anderson. Not right how one boxer pulling out ****s up the rest of the fighters.
Fair enough point but I do believe any fighter would have done the same under the same circumstances unfortunately
Jeff I totally get your point and agree with where you coming from but fact is Groves has a W over Kenny and is getting a big payday. If he fought Anderson and lost he has rebuilding to do whereas if he loses this title fight he could still have Anderson. Win, lose or draw against Steiglitz he comes out smelling of roses. I hate alphabets but seriously, Steiglitz is a step up from Anderson and it isn't a bad fight. I am just gutted for Kenny and the undercard fighters like you. If I were Frank I would put on a lat replacement for Groves and keep card up.
I think the majority of fighters, especially the ones drawing the money, would do the same. No point crying about it, though.
Jeez lads anybody would think I like this pullout, let's not forget I love boxing too :good Just trying to put some rationale forward. Frank could prop up card by drafting in a late replacement. Calzaghe once fought Tucker Pudwell with 3 days notice, the card can still be salvaged, for undercard and fans sakes anyway.
Granted Groves has already beaten Kenny, but that's not the point. Only in Boxing would this be deemed acceptable. Surely Groves would still have been Mandatory when he beats Anderson in 2?
Yeah, I was never quite sure why this was a necessary rematch tbh. Kenny was game enough alright, but it is hardly as though George pulled it out of the fire.
Groves would be even more of a paper champion than Cleverly. George isn't even the best SMW in Britain!
