the fact a domestic title fight is getting national newspaper press at negotiation stage shows how big it is.

Right. None of them want it now. They are just simmering the pot.

Ya, that's a really good development. Hopefully if they can keep building excitement there'll be enough money on the table for this fight before too long.

Groves will need to up his profile with the general sports fans before this can make the decent money all the parties seem to think its worth. People have heard of Degale, Groves on the other hand is known to boxing fans.

Good point Gaz, hopefully Hayemakers new deal with Sky/Ringside can big him up and give him a bigger profile.

One of the easiest fights to sell this, can they do it right?

Not sure thats true. Groves has got allot of press. Groves is probably the most well known of all domestic title holders.

They should be gettin Groves on the undercard of all of Hayes fight, and spend a logic the time hypin him and the potential DeGale fight. Got a big audience there, great chance to build awareness

Really? He may be known in London (is he?) but to the average sports fan everywhere else he's no one.

Groves is totally unknown outside of hardcore fans.

I am.;) Outside of boxing circles is anyone asking when DeGale is going to fight Groves? Groves needs to get on Sky, get some wins and start running his mouth off in the post fight interviews and until that happens the fight isn't going to generate the money both sides seem to want.

The fact that Warren felt the need to mention Groves repeatedly on Saturday shows he knows Groves needs more publicity make the fight a real event.

With interest in boxing being as low as it is being the "most well known domestic title holder" isn't exactly high praise these days and certainly doesn't translate into being well known amongst non-boxing fans.

I have seen articles about Groves in The Sun, The Mirror, Metro, Daily Mail and heard interviews with him on Talksport. He was on Hayes last two PPV undercards which got over 500,000 buys.

Groves gets more national press than those guys mainly because of his association to DeGale. There fight would do 5000 tickets in London no problem. I don't think DeGale would do 5000 on his own agaisnt Kenny Anderson.
