Groves vs Eubank - Who've you got?

At the moment leaning towards Groves. CEJ has strung a good run together but GG is far more experienced against better opponents and I think most of CEJ's recent opposition has either been made to order or just not of the required level. He hasn't faced a top class technician since BJS and Groves brings size and power on top of that. CEJ could easily win late on or by decision though. Great matchup.

I won't deny Groves is strong but pushing back isn't the same as clinching. In that first round when he's caught on the ropes he just puts up his guard and buries his head into Cox's chest and pushes him back. Cox should of put his forearm on his head and pushed his head down, then stepped back or side stepped to create space to throw.

In later rounds Cox smothered his work, though he had some moments in round 2 when he had Groves on the ropes and Groves as always traded instead of looking to slip away or clinch.

Groves main issue for me is he doesn't know how to really control the pace of a fight. He's pretty much all out from first bell to the end of the fight which is why he's known to fade late. He's always looking to attack, always in a position to attack. When on the ropes he doesn't tie up he trades, which led to his KO vs Froch. He doesn't look to create space to get a breather because even when he does do that he immediately gets back into range, he's almost always standing right in front of his opponent, hands down, looking to counter. He only clinches when an opponent falls in and he doesn't have a chance to throw.

In the whole 4 rounds. Cox had one moment in round 2, where he let his hands go with a flurry and the commentators got excited. Watch it...Groves made him miss nearly every shot (one body shot got in) & landed counters of his own. He kept whipping in the counter body shot because Cox was standing facing him straight on. It was not wreckless trading, it was quality defensive work on the inside, making him miss and landing counters.

He does clinch in that fight and was way too big & strong for Cox, chucking him about.

Zach Parker is on the undercard 14(10)-0-0.

Looks a decent prospect. KO’d Luke Blackledge in first round on the Smith - Skoglund undercard but followed it up with a lacklustre performance against a journeyman.

I believe he’s also in reserve too incase anything happens to Groves or Eubank.

Such a stacked division for the brits!
