I am not a Scouser and I had Smith winning fight as did people I know who watched fight. Don't get me wrong think AA underestimated him and came in fitter and more determined in second fight and won that with a bit to spare but think he lost first one.
Got a feeling Eubank will get a late TKO, think Groves will struggle with the pressure. Will be interesting to see if he has the power to hurt GG & equally how he stands up to Georges right hand. Hope George can come through as he's one of my fav fighters but I can't see him stopping CEJ
I thought Paul Smith won the 1st Abraham fight, outright robbed actually. Did he deserve the shot in the first place, or any other title shot? Not really, but he definitely won that first fight.
Eubank will be getting hit hard and clean because his wide open and has terrible foot work it's easy to come forward when the other fighter has no power groves will time Eubank and stop him in his tracks Eubank has fought alot of tailor made opponents and even froch with his granite chin felt groves power
Groves for me, not sure on method. If Eubank wins I can imagine it be by throwing a barrage of shots and a 'British stoppage' comes in. If he wins by out boxing Groves id be very impressed. People like to mention the Chudinov and Groves fights, both put pressure on him but he stopped them both strongly. Also watch for the sneaky bodyshots he throws in both fights, something people keep forgetting. You can have the best chin in the world, but sucking up big shots WILL slow you down, I'm not sure Eubank is going to be able to be as effective in this fight as everyone is expecting, he's also wide open to the body when he throws hooks. I can envisage a point where Eubank will go hook happy if he backs Groves up. I think Groves will do what he did against Cox, look to catch and block a few, then look to counter with a big left hook. If you watch Eubanks fight against Yildirim before he knocked him out, when he's throwing hooks, watch his footwork and see how all over the place he ends up being. He won't get away with that against Groves imo and it' a weakness a better class of fighter will take advantage of when countering. I'm not sure this myth about Groves stamina either, it isn't the best but he's done 12 rounds comfortably, he also throws a lot of shots and powerful ones at that, he does look ragged a lot though which can't be denied. Groves has the better skill set and ring IQ, has been a super middle since turning pro, he has the better power and is more experienced. He is more battle worn also though. Eubank has speed, intensity and workrate but his opponents have been carefully picked at SM and he' going to get hit harder and more often then he's ever been hit, against a vastly more experienced and bigger fighter then he's ever faced. Im just not convinced his attritibutes are going to be enough, but fair play if he wins (not controversially!).
Really excited for this one. Might see about tickets.. Leaning towards Groves because I can see Jr's power being virtually non-existent after a few rounds. Jr will try sitting on a few shots only to be countered hard. Throw in Groves' jab and body shots and I see Jr reverting to his comfort zone of throwing flurries of 'light' shots.
Eubank has a lot of support right now because he's looked good vs the Quinlan's and Yildrim's of the world, I keep seeing his 'workrate' and 'engine' is going to secure him the win over Groves whilst failing to mention how easily at times he can be outboxed. People are in for a shock if they think Eubank is going to have anywhere near the same workrate vs Groves, that jab is going to be a menace for starters. Eubank can win this no doubt, but only if Groves crumbles under pressure which we have seen him do before. If Groves is at his best this should be a clear, but competitive win for him using his jab, superior ring IQ and by landing the more meaningful, hurtful shots.
This posts hits the nail on the head for me. I see Eubank going back down to 160 after this fight with his tail between his legs.
Eubank stands and shoeshine against medium calibre opponents that are intimidated by his ring presence and no fear . Groves will light him up imo if he thinks he can throw more than 4/5 punch combos Can' see groves letting him do his lean and sneak uppercut up the middle . Groves likes to pivot all the time and throw straight after . Think at some point Eubanks will lose any strategy and try and out muscle groves and take him down the stretch .. might be more difficult against a strong smw
