I agree that Groves is the bigger man, but Jr isn't that small for 168 these days. I think against Quinlan you could probably say he was a small 168, but he seems to have packed on a bit of muscle since. You compare what he looks like @the weigh ins to fight night and it's clear he dehydrates quite a bit, he would be 180lbs fight night, Groves probably not much more, whereas I think Smith is probably 190, Smith is gigantic. Jamie Cox is small, probably no more than 175lbs IMO fight night, he doesn't look much bigger than weigh ins, don't think he dehydrates much to make weight.
I think Jr is clearly bigger than Martin Murray for example, I think Jr could still put on more size and campaign @ 175, 180lbs actually still looks lean on him, Murray looked a bit bloated and bf% was up @ a similar weight.
You know i’ve said it plenty of times on here mate and I know you don’t buy it, but he could be involved in some huge fights at 160. That division is hotting up a bit and there’s some potentially big fights whilst he can still make the weight. Time is on his side in terms of growing into the 168. He’s yet to fill out (like all us blokes inevitably do in our 30’s) so why fight at a physical disadvantage against the likes of Groves, Degale’s and Smith’s etc...them 3 are probably ready to step up to 175 actually.
I would be shocked if Eubank was more than 175ib fight night. Froch only used go weigh 172-174 fight night but he was a much stronger bigger puncher
Anyone else still annoyed that the Yildrim fight was on PPV? Just imagine what that would have done for Jr if they had banged it on normal ITV after advertising the hell out of it. He would be ridiculously huge in the UK by now. Yildrim 'looked' seriously tough, unbeaten; the whole thing should have been a promoter's dream. Millions would have tuned in to see that highlight reel KO and everyone would be talking about him. I can only imagine how big it would have made the Groves fight. Short-sighted and a golden opportunity missed if you ask me.
True mate that's the problem with tv companies and fighters. Cant blame fighters wanting most money but sometimes not making huge profits or loads cash foe fighter can make you more in future all about promotion. Doesn't matter talent its all promotion but like u say if millions see him ko a guy they can build up u can build up groves fight them smith if he progresses . sometimes take short term loss for the high gains in future risk for reward wish more tv and fighters would but most just wnat massive payday straight away rather see bigger picture
