That's why Groves pulled out of the Anderson fight...

Decent fight, tough to call for me.

Steiglitz is decent, tough test for Groves.

  5. Winnable fight. Still good experience even if he loses a close decision.

    Anderson should get the winner.

Groves is a git for pulling out at the last minute after Anderson had gone through training camp.

You can't help injuries (tactical moves to secure a bigger fight).

It'd be great if he won and vacated the belt rather than face a number of ordinary challengers given to him by the WBO who would be a step backwards for him. It'd make some statement about the ridiculous nature of the ABC's and also allow him to develop as a fighter more, as he himself has admitted he still needs to do, without this tag of 'World champion' which, like it has with Nathan Cleverly, would place unnecessary pressure and expectation on him.

Cleverly is rightly criticised for his choice of opponents because he's fighting them under the demise of being a 'World Champion'. I like this fight a lot for Groves because it's a big step up but not an unrealistic one where he'd stand no chance of winning. But if by winning it and becoming the champion, it's going to tie him into weak, pointless defences, I'd love to see him disregard the belt and look for other worthwile tests that may not be ranked by the WBO.

An unrealistic dream I know but I think Groves realises that winning vs Stieglitz alone wouldn't make him world class yet so I'd hope he didn't follow the overly protective, cautious route Cleverly has taken in a similar situation.

Are you suggesting that someone in the boxing business doesn't pay people on time?

    Interesting.

He could of had the Anderson fight and still taken that fight if its in Aprill, he should man up, he let Anderson down massively..

  15. I wouldn't fancy fighting for a world title just a month or so after fighting someone like Kenny Anderson.
