I think if Groves catches Ward he's gone, If Groves can knock Frock down and hurt him so many times he will knock ward out if he hits ward enough witch he has probably got the talent to do because he can box as well.

Big fan of Groves and have followed his progress since he turned over, but let's not get to caught up with him here. He's come on leaps and bounds in the last 3 years, but the Froch fight was his coming out party if you like where he's proved he's a world class fighter, however the referee took the ending he was craving away from him. Ward at this moment in time, is 2nd only to Mayweather P4P. He's a class act inside a boxing ring, but let's not get foolish and think because Groves chinned Froch he can do the same to Ward - they are completely different fighters. Ward wouldn't allow himself to be constantly square on and so prone to the right hand + his foot work is far better. That in itself means him v Groves is a completely different fight. As much as I'm a fan of Groves, he's said himself he isn't the finished article but as we've all seen he is a MASSIVE talent. I'd like to see him pick up a world title - which I'm sure he will - get a rematch with Froch (if Froch and Hearn allow it..) before thinking about Ward. If all goes smoothly for him, by that time Ward will be that little bit older, Groves will be hitting his peak in terms of age and in my opinion will be an even further improved fighter. Then let him loose on Ward and see what happens.
Thing is Froch is hittable, what's more Groves knew what would work from sparring Froch, he came into the fight knowing he was going to use that exact RH counter. That was his magic bullet, and it nearly worked, but it's worth remembering that once he'd caught Carl with it the once he wasn't able to KD him again. Despite seriously worrying Froch and putting him off his game for several rounds where he was uncommonly cautious, Froch came back and started to reel Groves in. Ward would not give Groves the chance, he could tie him up relatively easily I think, he also has uncanny timing and the ability to spoil Groves attack with his jab. Groves is fast, and he hits hard, but that isn't enough. I just didn't see the level of skill or ring savvy from Groves to trouble Ward.
Ward is favorite but Groves is a live opponent. I'd favour Ward massively to win a wide UD, but wouldn't be suprised if Groves shocked me again.
cheers. it is weird that there is 3 posts at start of this thread I only made 1 I never put the ??? post lol. how do you delete posts because when you hover the cursor over edit it says edit/delete message but it doesn't have an option to delete it lol.
ward is too good at the moment and probably for ever will be. That takes nothing away from Groves though who is also fantastic.
Give Groves another 4 fights or so of seasoning before hes ready to step in with a legit chance vs Ward. I think Groves has the talent to fight Ward. But I think he would be well advised to hone more skills over the course of a year or so with a mind to a Ward showdown to have a good chance. Right now he just isnt ready yet.
At this point I'd pick Ward by UD. Groves has a punchers chance though. I think Groves has about a 20% chance right now. In about 3 years it could go up to 40%.
