    Jayzuz H. Christ, what a one-sided poll!

I can't say I've ever seen Golovkin before, unfortunately, but just looking at the poll and the reverence people seem to hold for him around here, I suppose he's a justifiable favorite? :conf

I have seen Proksa, but I wasn't too impressed. His level of competition has been quite low for a title contender, and there was that embarrassing loss to Kerry Hope. But I remember a time when Proksa had a Golovkin-esque following, heralded as the next big thing around 160 before his career went awry, so who knows? Proksa could yet pull off an upset, wouldn't surprise me at all.

On a different note, respect to HBO for putting two virtually unknown European fighters on their station, even if it's a low-profile card. It's good for the sport to expose these fighters to American audiences, it makes future fights against boxers like Martinez or Chavez easier to negotiate, I think. So, kudos to them. :good

All fights in which Golovkin fought like a dumb, angry bull. He has massive power, but Proska has better speed, and MUCH better defense. Golovkin can't land those bombs if he doesn't get inside, and Proska is fast & slippery. Proska has plenty of power himself, is hard to figure out with that baroque style, and is a southpaw.

Also, I think people are vastly underestimating Proska's power. He's got what, 21 KO's out of 28 wins? That's only underwhelming when compared to Golovkin, but consider this:
In Proska's last 14 fights, he won 13 by KO ! (I consider that one RTD a TKO)

See, Golovkin was born with his power. It's innate, which is why he's so dangerous on the inside. Proska, on the other hand, gets his power from excellent technique: Perfect extension from the outside, with proper front-leaning angle and rock-solid leg support. It's textbook punching, despite the weird style that sets it up. - And the point is, Proska has ben getting steadily better with every fight. He has the same KO potential as Golovkin as long as he can stay outside, he faster, and hr has much better head & body movement.

Golovkn's "only hope" is to corner Proska in a corner and unload to the body.
This could certainly happen, but I think Proska is just too slippery. (esp for a white guy !)

I'm telling you, "Little Seth Mitchell" is going down tonight.

I predicted Campillo would school Cloud, with Cloud getting a BS decision.

I predicted Bradley over pack via phony decision.

I actually predicted that David Haye would use a damaged toe as an excuse for losing to Wlad ! (look it up.)

I'm putting my boxtradamus record on the line tonight: (heck, why not?)

    Proska by TKO !

    I have a theory:

Maybe Proska threw the fight against Hope, since the betting odds were huge. He told all his relatives to bet the farm on the other guy, then lost on purpose. Everyone got rich, then he proceeded to beat the living snot out of Hope in the rematch!

OK, back to reality: I haven't seen that fight, but evidently Proska suffered a terrible cut early in the fight. He still managed to make it to the final bell, but that kind of thing can obviously change things drastically.

It might also be that Proska took Hope too lightly, given his complete lack of power, and so foolishly didn't train hard for that fight. It happens.

    -----------------------

    Proska TKO.

    - probably started by a right hook, in the later rounds once Golovkin gets frustrated & sloppy from not being able to land.

    WOJNA PROSKA !!!!!!!

Like I said, you look a bit silly now. You don't have to look like Sweet Pea to have a formidable defence and Golovkin is clearly far from a bum. But nice try. :good

I predicted a 5th round KO before the fight and I'm glad to be proven right. Golovkin hits too hard for a guy with such little defensive ability.

I think Proksa would have done a lot better against Geale, Sturm and N'Dam for instance, maybe even beat 'm. And I like the kid, he's like a poor man's Maravilla.
    But sorry? No, not really.

You're officially an idiot. If Golovkin is Mitchell than Martinez is Fuchigami.

    Evidently.

Golovkin really surprised me tonight. His defense was significantly better than he's shown in several recent fights, he must have been working on it. I think that made more of a difference than his crushing power.

Im not bashing you for rooting for Proksa, i thought it would be a little more competitive too, but for your Mitchell comparison.

The Ouma fight was not his normal style. Anyone who has watched Golovkin should know that GGG is quite good at slipping and parrying punches.
