in bad i mean in general and in mma i think he has average boxing, his athleticism enables him to land sometimes with accurate quick straight shots however, when we go further and analyse the fluidity of combos and counterpunching its pretty much non existant for gsp, i cant remember the last guy gsp koed from punches, the tall skinny black guy who he knocked out and then kind of came back to it only to get knocked out again is the last i can remember and im pretty sure that was a long time ago, i know wrestling is his strenght and he secures victory this way but he had guys that were spent and ready for the taking had he stood with them and finished them off like fitch, penn to name a few but he chooses not, why: boxing isnt good enough even against guys who are far more physically tired, it could be issues in his chin, but if he was a good boxer i think the question marks over his chin wouldnt come into play, and of course it could just be that he wants to make sure he gets the win although this then raises questions about his own confidence in his boxing, it will be interesting to see what roach can do with him, there is massive potential there and he could become more watchable for those who dislike his wrestling dominance for 5 rounds compare to a first round left hook ko

    so when was it good

Well im going off of how it fars vs other guys in MMA. GSP tore up Jay Hireon with his hands, hurt Hughes with punches in the rematch but ran out of time to finish him and in the 2nd finished him with a headkick, was picking BJ apart in the rematch with his jab body and head, dropped Fitch like 3 times. Theres only 2 times in his career where you can say he can difficulty with his opponets hands. Serra clipped him behind the head and GSP didnt react well to it, panicked and got stopped. Then theres then first BJ fight where BJ had the advantage standing but it was fairly close its just the blood made it look like GSP was being destroyed which he cleary wasnt. There is only a few guys in MMA with perfect technique or fluid combo punching it doesnt mean the ones who arent doing those things dont have effective MMA boxing see Nick Diaz.

Heiron has gone on to become a top guy in IFL and strikeforce, and as Jimmie said he's landed a lot more punches than he's taken in pretty much every fight. Now, that's helped out a lot by the fact that his takedowns are so good that guys can't be as set, but clearly saying it's "bad" relative to all but a few other mmaers is nuts. Your standard of "he doesn't knock people out with his boxing" leaves very few guys to consider "good". Do you consider Pauli Mallinagi to be a lousy boxer since he doesn't knock people out with his boxing? What about Penn? He carved up Sherk but stopped him with a knee...

Yeah Penn's only actually stopped Caul Ono with punches Din Thomas was with knees, he hurt Joe Daddy but choked him, Diego was from a cut caused by a headkick. Does this mean Penn has poor boxing ? Of course not. I think if GSP wasnt so wrestling minded he would have KOed a few others by now.

i think bj was beat that night because gsp's size and athleticism was too superior, look back at gsp's last opponents his boxing has not been better than most of them, i think it worked out that 50 % of the time he was a better boxer, by being a better boxer im mean purely as a boxer, not boxing in mma just BOXING, this is why i have classed him as an average boxer ufc standard, hardy, penn, sherk, serra, alves imo all have better basic boxing
