    Since 2005:

TKO of S Sherk - Sherk is a lightweight and was stopped by BJ at LW
SD over Penn - Penn is a Lightweight and this fight was very close
TKO over Hughes - Hughes is obsolete, has been exposed and figured out, Alves crushed him also. Still a very good performance and one of my favorite fights ever.
TKO loss to Serra - Serra is a Lightweight
Dec win over Koscheck - Good win
Sub win over Hughes - Great performance, but again...Hughes has been figured out and is not the force he once was
Dec win over Fitch - Good win
TKO over Penn - Penn is a lightweight

The only fighters GSP has stopped since 2005 are Hughes and Lightweights. Don't misunderstand, I'm a huge fan of GSP. But this just dawned on me today. BJ Penn is getting alot of criticism, but at least the last 3 fighters he faced "in his weight class" he dominated and stopped them. Can you imagine if Penn was fighting even the top Featherweights, let alone Lightweights...it wouldn't even be close to competitive either.

Alves will be a good gauge of exactly how good GSP is P4P and if he oughta entertain the idea of moving up to face Anderson. :deal

Your right but the Kosh fight was crap, Josh has no real abilities other than his take down and basic boxing, GSP is a much better fighter and did nothing to him really, GSP did a good job on Fitch, his best showing yet.

BJ is to small to fight at 175, you would never get me to eat 20 pounds of lard to to fight at a higher weight class.

GSP does not have a mejor punch resistance that is why Serra decked him, now way would GSP beat Anderson Silva, he is to big, fast and technical.

GSP is a strong guy. Hes a nice guy too. You can poke holes in everyones resume.

But to even think of him against Silva is only good if youre a GSP hater. Because frankly, seeing his face all bruised up in his fights. Silva will end his career.

If he hits Silva even with ONE punch, I would consider GSP right up with Fedor as the greatest ever.

that's a pretty bold statement. who says GSP can't move up 15 pounds and not carry his power and speed and agility with him? skill wise he's as good as Anderson(except maybe striking). GSP is a big frame for 170 and i think he would carry up to 185 with ease.

I repeat, if GSP hits Anderson in the face with a solid punch (not the grazing variety) To me hes already won.

GSP is strong, very strong but if somehow Silva gets a hold of him in the clinch and starts throwing him violently against the fence, he'll know who his daddy is.

Okay, I've looked at GSP's resume. I'm not sure he has the educational background to work for me, but I might show him favoritism him because he's well-known.

    That is absolutly ****.

Sherk had never fought at lightweight at that point in his career; the "obsolete" Hughes was the reigning champion at the most succesful champion in mma history, two losses to GSP and one to Alves do not make a fighter obsolete, especially when it is after the fight in question; BJ was the linear world champion at 170; Koscheck was and is a top welterweight, more to the point he was considered the best wrestler at 170 and GSP out wrestled him; Trigg was ranked as the second or third 170 in the world; Fitch was the clear cut #2 in the world.

Adding to that his incredible early career: Hieron, Karo, and Mayhem are all incredibly game fighters.

To discredit what in all likelyhood will become the best welterweight career in history, all he really has left is to have a run as champion like Hughes did, is silly. He has already probably equalled Hughes if you remove the factor of title fights vs non title fights.

He's resume is still pretty impressive. He fought those guys at welterweight and beat them. If they think they couldn't compete at 170 lbs then they should stay at lightweight. The only win that i questioned him for is his last fight vs bj penn. I hope they can fight again and this time no cheating:lol:

Overall he has a very impressive resume-hughes-penn-sherk-fitch-koscheck-serra

Questioning GSP's record is really stupid. The man's record speaks for itself.

What a stupid thread TS. You should know that GSP has more top 10 wins than any others top guy in UFC.

Why does everything have to be so frigg'n serious, you seem angry :patsch I think his resume IS better than Hughes's, all I was pointing out is the only fighters he has "stopped" in the past 4 years are smaller men, and Matt Hughes. And yes....Hughes is obsolete. He is a wrestler, a ground and pound fighter with absolutely no serious weapons on his feet. GSP was stronger then him, and could avoid being put on his back and Hughes had nothing to do to him, same with Alves. Both owned him in the standup as well. Hughes could not beat Fitch, Kos, GSP, Alves and probably many others at WW, he's done and the win over him may look good on paper but after closely examining it...it isn't all too impressive. The game is evolving an Hughes dominated a much weaker division with much more limited fighters.

I'm not hating on GSP, Geeezus I'm a huge fan of his. :deal
