You don't have to submit him to beat him. A lot of gsp's win has come to a decision mainly dominating his opponent with his wrestling.

What happens if Sonnen beats Silva first? (Not that he has a great chance to) Does that automatically retire Silva AND GSP at the same time? If so Sonnen could effectively retire 2 UFC champs in 1 night. I'd laugh balls if that happened!

That wrestling would do GSP no good IMO. Given Silva's long legs and excellent Jiu-jitsu skills, GSP may get caught along the way. Dan Henderson (a physically stronger man, and better wrestler than GSP) couldn't even maintain control on Silva. Fact is, Silva can fight GSP anywhere the fight goes, GSP MUST try and take Silva down.

That's the plan for gsp to win. Get silva on the ground and ground and pound his ass for 5 rounds. GSP has fought the best jj fighter in bj penn and penn couldn't submit him. GSP is too hard to submit. He was too green when hughes armbar him couple of years ago.

Somebody posted a video of GSP training with rashad evans and he took evans down at will. I can see him doing the same to silva.

First of all, that video of GSP taking Rashad down, GSP himself said was not true. They were running drills and Rashad was taking GSP down too. GSP cleared this stuff around the time of the Penn rematch.

Secondly, BJ is not the best Jiu-jitsu fighter. Penn is the best in the lightweight division or maybe at 170, but he's NOT THE BEST JIU-JITSU FIGHTER. So you saying even Penn couldn't sub GSP is irrelvent, because Penn is not a middleweight and nowhere near as physically strong as Silva.

And thirdly, GSP Pounding Silva's ass for 5 rounds is way easier said then done. Anderson Silva is NOT Serra, Fitch, Penn, Alves, or Hardy. The man knows how to fight off his back, and GSP would have to worry about alot of incoming strikes from the bottom, and a **** load of submission attempts, because doesn't just let somebody "pound his ass out for 5 rounds", and its not easy holding Silva down. Marquardt & Henderson aren't exactly known as weaklings, and look what happened to them. Silva is no stranger to an opponent who's only game plan is to put him on his back (Lutter, Henderson, Marquardt, Leites, Maia, etc). And he's defeated everyone that's stepped in the Octagon with him. GSP would sport the same broken nose he suffered against Penn from the first fight, and this time he'd take a TKO stoppage to go along with it.
