Anderson Silva really really belongs at light heavy as well. He's truly gigantic for a middleweight. Maybe St. Pierre should go up in wight, get a legit tune up and then face Anderson.
Once a legacy is in tact, there is no breaking it. Guys like Wand, Shogun, Rampage, Fedor, Hendo, Anderson and GSP are already associated with greatness. There is nothing for St. Pierre to lose, he has already reached the top of the mountain. Time for him to try and climb new ones. That isn't to say he should try bounding the mountain in one stride, I think he should test himself in the division before trying to take Silva, fight a game opponent.. If he loses, then so be it. It doesn't take away from his legacy/ what he has already accomplished.
I think moving up a weight and taking on a reigning champ like Silva in one move is ludicrous and asking him to do it makes no sense. People can talk about boxers doing the same thing but its not because they are moving up to a 3-5lb heavier weight division rather than a 15lb difference. However, if GSP doesnt move up he will be still remembered but there will always be a question mark over his name.
GSP is playing possum. Don't you think the Jackson camp isnt salivating at this fight? They're making gameplans as we speak. This is for best MMA camp. and its really a win win for Team GSP.
GSP is talking bull****. He just don't want to talk about it before knocking Shields out. After Shields, he will sing a different tune.
He appears to be sincere when discussing moving up to face Silva, and he should... Silva would put a serious hurt on him. The size difference is huge.
After Shields there is nothing for GSP except old ground. He must go up to 185. I understand if he would want 1 or 2 fights to get used to the weight. 15 pounds is a huge jump and 185 is full of guys who could be 205 pounds, more so than 170. Similarly, GSP must not forget that he has mixed it with strong guys like Fitch, Alves, soon to be Shields and these guys are big guys, who cut crazy weight and have fought at higher weights and been successful. GSP has also trained a tonne with guys like Nate, Rashad etc
