The reaction from many? St. Pierre is "afraid" to take on Silva.
We hunted down St. Pierre while he's training in London to answer the claims that he fears a Silva fight.
"I'm not afraid of nobody in the world," St. Pierre said. "I'm a martial artist. If it happens [with] the right timing and everything, I fight whoever they want. I can fight everyone in the world. I don't mind."

Why the hell would he be, after seeing what Lutter, Sonnen was able to do to Silva. Hes much better than both.

Its going to be surprising how easy this will be, may be boring but easy.

After he pitches a shutout against Shields, I hope he remembers that.

Gsp may not be scared but he doesnt seem to want the fight either.

I dont think Gsp is scared, and to be honest I hope he stays at welterweight and keeps defending his title.

I think GSP is afraid of losing the fight or he'd really want it after the way Sonnen manhandled Silva it's pretty obvious what his flaws are.

A great fighter will take risks to achieve greatness. For all of GSP's ability if he doesn't chase this fight I can't consider him great.

anyone thinking GSP is scared has to be a little handy if you know what i mean.

  8. I cant see GSP being scared to fight Silva. As the UFC promotion goes he would have to be get unscared of Silva pretty quick if Dana said so.

I don't think GSP is 'scared' of Silva as such, I just don't think he has that warrior mentality that BJ has where he would fight anyone for the chance of glory. I think GSP is more the type of guy who weighs risk vs reward, and believes that a fight with Silva is a very big risk for him.

    Think of the reward though!

Gsp beats Anderson that would make 3 ATG fighters Gsp has felled!

    Hard to **** with that!

Yes, that's the way someone like BJ Penn would think of it. And numerous other great fighters share that mentality (as do you and I it seems). But there remain fighters (in MMA and boxing, Floyd Mayweather to name but one) who think of things differently, they are more rational and less emotional. I think GSP is not the type of fighter to plunge into a big fight on the basis of desire, I think he needs to rationalize it first, he needs to believe it is very likely that he will win before he can commit to it. That's just my reading of things though, could very well be complete bull****!!

Technically, he said he was afraid of somebody. He should have said,"I'm not afraid on anybody in the world..." or even "I'm afraid of nobody in the world..." if he isn't really afraid of anyone. Or is he just trying to trick us?

I really don't think GSP is afraid of Silva. He has stated that if he fights at 185, he wants it to be a permanent move. GSP has stated that he wants to add 10-15lbs of lean muscle mass if he fights at 185, and that he will be saying good bye to the welterweight division if he does so.

I don't have a source, I remember hearing this in an interview.

Well, he said"I'm not of afraid of nobody..."

That's a double negative. You act like English is a 2nd language for him, or something.
