Whoever wins the Penn/GSP fight will be my #2 P4P. I really like both guys a bunch and they are easily two of my all time favorites.

Whoever wins this fight has a strong argument for being no.1 P4P iMO. It all depends on how you define P4P - (I define it on resume and the quality of opponents faced, and to a lesser extent the skill-set of the fighter in question.)

Right now the only weakness I see in GSP's game is one he cannot really fix and that is his chin is a bit shaky. His striking is the best in his division and may be only 2nd to Silva in all of MMA. Penn is a very underrated striker on his feet as well. GSP and Penn are a level above everyone with their takedown defense, and Penn is the best ground tactician in the game but GSP is turning into a beast on the ground too.

I have Penn at #3 and GSP at #4. I know Silva is great but I think these guys are right there with him and I would have no problem putting them at #1. Fedor should be #1 unamiously but he has been inactive bar the dominant win over Sylvia.

    GSP's chin is not shaky.
Serra caught him behind the ear with a big punch which caused him to lost balance and after that he didnt reacted well and was giving a beating then he tap because he didnt know how to react to eat punch in the face. GSP was never out. His chin is not an issue for me, Fitch caught him 2 or 3 times with good punch and GSP did take them nicely, if he was shaky, we would have see his leg bottle up a little but it didnt. Even if Fitch is not a power puncher. His chin is maybe not ala BJ Penn, but it certainly not shaky ala Joe Stevenson

GSP is definately not the 2nd best striker in MMA. Bar Silva there is Penn, Machida, Shogun, CroCop and numerous others that i think are better in the stand up department. I think GSP's stand up is overrated by many, although it is still above average. Certainly his weakest point if you could call it weak. And i don't think GSP's chin is that weak but it is by no means granite.

    Manhoef
    Hunt
    Daley
    LeBanner

All much better strikers than Georges.

I agree with most of your point..but i will take Penns stand up as a bit better than GSP. If you take into consideration Penns elusiveness and chin into play along with his heavy hands...id give him the edge over anyone at 155 - 170lbs.

GSPs takedowns and TD defense is the best in the game..better than BJ. Although BJ's top game is the best in the history of MMA..I cant see anyone escaping him frm the bottom not even light heavys...Id put Penn #1 if he wins this fight moreso than GSP..when you consider his size...

GSP will be a slight favorite in the fight..I see him being too strong for BJ..55-45 fight IMHO and thats saying alot for Penn considering how dominant GSp has been and how GSP has about 20 pounds of muscle over him in size

i'm a huge GSP fan but i agree if BJ wins he should most likely move to #1. it somewhat depends on what Fedor does in the mean time. i'm not sure GSP beating the smaller man would put him anymore than #2 thogh.

Hunt was better but he is getting older and not what he once was. The other 3 you can make a case for. GSP's standup is top notch though.

Cro Cop is all but done. 2-3 years ago it was the best in MMA but now I think he is too hesitant to be a top level striker anymore. Mentally he isn't there to contend with the best. I think Penn is a very good striker but not as heavy handed as GSP. Machida is a beast and his timing is amazing but I don't think he can mix it up quite as well as GSP. Shogun is just a monster so I will agree with you there.

Fitch caught GSP in the 2nd round I believe and stunned him a bit. Nothing major but GSP was thinking about it. His chin is not glass but it is a bit shaky.

The man has the nuts the size of an elephant. You have to give him that.
