GSP responds to interview about Anderson Silva

true silva is concentrating on forrest griffin who is a former ufc light heavyweight champion. He has his hands full in his next fight. Let's not forget that silva moved up to fight griffin cuz he is not being challenge at 185.

Sorry GSP fans but silva would murder gsp if they ever fight. Silva is just too big for gsp and he is just as talented.

 

Anderson Silva is 6'2, walks around at 230 or a little below that, Muay Thai specialist and BJJ black belt. GSP is great but he'd get murdered. Silva would knee GSP's nose to the left or right side of his face and GSP would be a pool of blood worser than when Penn broke his nose. And if he took anderson down he'd have to worry about getting subbed. Kinda unlikely Silva subs GSP because if he beat him Silva would TKO him, but the chance of him subbing GSP is there.

This is no way a diss to GSP because he's one of my favorite fighters, but it's a bad matchup for him. He should stay the king pin at 170 and surpass Matt Hughes in title defenses. And Anderson is a total gentalman, I don't think he'd enjoy bashing GSP's face in. Kinda like with Franklin, Silva broke Franklin's nose and seemed sorry about it GSP has never fought a fighter like Anderson Silva. Ever.

 

i like both fighters but the fight disparity is simply too big.

gsp looks quite powerful but silvas kickcs, knees and elbows would keep gsp at bay.

Silva is just too big for GSP.
GSP himself said at ufc 100 that he is comfortable at this weight class and mentioned the size reason for him taking his time to move up, I think he knows that a move up against the very top is too much of a disadvantage.

 

GSP has cleared out his division. There's nothing left for him there. If it's legacy he's concerned about, he has no choice but to move up

 

Does moving up and being brutally ko'd by anderson silva enhance his legacy :huh

I really don't think it is fair to say Anderson Silva is more talented than GSP. Silva is isn't really dominating his competition any better than GSP, Silva is just different stylistically. If you compare them in their respective divisions, I think you'll find they're fairly equal in terms of effectiveness. I'll say both are even on the ground, since I really can't come up with examples that would lead me to think one was any better than the other there. I will say there stand up is even as well. Sure, Anderson Silva is a better striker; but GSP is better at takedowns. GSP is no slouch when it comes to striking, as he demonstrated against Alves. GSP also blends his take downs with his striking; like low kick, straight right, double leg is just a normal combination.

Size would be a factor, and would most likely tilt some of their above mentioned equalities to the larger fighter. I don't believe that Silva would be as lean at 230 as GSP would be at 200, so I don't believe Silva is going to have quite the size advantage other's are giving him.

I would favor Silva significantly if this fight were to happen. Silva's precision and reach advantage would be difficult for GSP to overcome. GSP has never had to overcome a height and reach disparity while facing a stronger opponent.

GSP has some interesting choices to make. He can wait on the welterweight division to make new challengers, but how much will his legacy benefit for it? What up and comers can really make him seem better for having beaten them? Supposedly the winner of the Swick fight is going to get a shot at GSP. Marius Zaromskis is not in the UFC, and would take a little time to hype. Zaromskis twice lost to a guy named Che Mills that is even lesser known.

I think that if GSP wants to make a real run at Silva, he needs to commit to the middleweight division. GSP vs Silva is not the only intriguing fight to be made at 185. GSP and Hendo is a great match-up.

 

Why doesn't GSP move up and fight a couple other guys at middle first? I'll say it again, he can fight the winner of Hendo/Franklin II or the winner of Bisping/Wandy or Leben who he'd ****ing murder, or many others.

 

Exactly. He should move up and test the waters at MW as Silva did at LHW imo.

 

I personally think GSP should go to 185 and fight a few name fighters before taking on Silva.

I'm not sure if he should start with Hendo cause he's a tough SOB but maybe Franklin, or Nate Quarry, or Lebren. Bascially a named fighter (to bring in revenue) near the top of the divsion,who he should be able to beat.

Basically the same thing Silva did when he fought Irwin.

The downside to this, for the UFC, will be if GSP loses or looks ordinary up at MW the superfight loses it's luster. But it is good for the fans, or else we get what we got with BJ and GSP....an illusion of a SUPERFIGHT, but not an actual superfight. BJ is an elite fighter....at his weight, at WW in todays division GSP is the elite fighter and BJ would just be a top contender. Had BJ fought Fitch and Alves prior to facing GSP we would've seen this. And if GSP fights Franklin and Hendo prior to Anderson we might see that AT MIDDLEWEIGHT GSP is on their level, and not on Andersons level. :deal
