I don't think that Alves has a problem with going to the ground. He's a BJJ black belt after all. So I think he will gladly throw the knees at GSP when he shoots in. And he will throw those brutal leg kicks aswell. GSP may not take people down from the clinch that often but I think he will have to adapt to win, and he's perfectly capable of adating. And correct me if I'm wrong but you can't really defend a takedown if your swept off your feet and slammed down. GSP is definately strong enough to do that. I think.
I'm gonna be honest, but I seriously dont know if GSP is strong enough in the clinch vs a guy like Alves, whos not a real WW, he is so HUGE and strong. I know that GSP has unreal force at WW, but Alves might be stronger, so thats why I really dont know. I dont think that fight will happen thought after reflexion. When GSP send fatty to LW, GSP vs Silva is gonna happen like White said.
I can't see Silva-GSP happeing tbh, no matter what Dana says. If Silva doesn't get any challenges at MW he'll go to LHW. And I don't think GSP should move to MW personnally. I think he would be a bit too small to work to his usual game plan. Anyway, he'll be wanting a rematch with BJ after The Prodigy mugs him of his title.
I like Florian and think he's great fighter, but BJ is just a class above tbh. Anything Florian can do BJ can do better tbh. Plus BJ has a granite chin so the punchers chance is out of the window aswell. The LW division is in a sticky situation. BJ isn't getting beat any time soon and I think Florian can handle anyone else aswell. BJ just doesn't really have weakness as nuthuggy as that sounds. Except perhaps his motivation. GSP can only outdo him in the wrestling department but thats because he's a physical freak and BJ doesn't give a **** about wrestling tbh.
Usually he dosn't . But yea, he does provide a very different threat than most of the grappling dominated 170 class. Still though, I think GSP wins it pretty handily; Thiago's cardio is a big questionmark because of the fact that he does have to cut such an enormous amount of weight, and in champion fights you have to make 170 on the dot, you don't get the extra pound like in non title fights. I see GSP knowing that he should take Thiago down, and while Thiago does have great defense, sets up and executes his takedowns better than anybody really. GSP also doesn't just shoot doubles, he has pretty much every takedown down very good, his hiptoss on Hughes was unreal. It is a very interesting and good fight though, because Thiago is a much different look than GSP normally sees, but even the striking matchup is not that far apart; GSP can at least hold his own, and might even get the better of the boxing, not sure about the kicks. On the ground GSP is just on a different level than Thiago; Thiago's gotten better but it will be were he ends up losing the fight.
If anyone think that GSP will have a hard time taking down Alves at will because Thiago has been looking golden lately. You're not smart
