Tarver by far. Good god, man, you're making Roy Jones look sane by comparison.

Welliver's only 35? Feels like one of those guys that's been around forever.

Right? That surprised me as well, nearly as much as realizing that Kiko Martínez is only 32.

Enormous Giovani Segura fan. Surprising he never took off with popularity at his peak. That first Calderon fight I've repped since it happened.

But bantamweight? Still going at 36? I didn't even know he had fought in 2016 and at featherweight?! Dear lord.

(and his best weight was 108, not flyweight, where he found no success comparably)

Most cumulative obscure boxing information I've seen compiled in one place since the last time I tried to make an equally comprehensive post over on Classic. I'm clapping for you, Butt.

Shumenov has to be viewed as pretty darn bad based on his reason for retiring (ala Kessler). It's like... was there a magical healing? Did he get treated by Holyfield's pastor or what?

Without the eye issue, his "comeback" or continuing to fight would be totally normal and retiring might seem a bit random.

    IB...

I friendly request a "Walked away too soon..." thread, fighters that retired too soon in the last half decade or so. I'm the type that likes a fighter calling it early in their career, but for the sake of potential significant legacy boosters, still rounding into form, leaving a giant one on the table, etc.

Nobody is saying "there ought to be a law", so chillax and smoothe down those militant Libertarian hackles. :sisi1

We're expressing concern at their judgment, as is our right.

If Justin Beiber gets to sing, Tony Tarver gets to fight. I don't have to watch either. 'Sides it makes them happy. These men are warriors until the day they die. They'd be sparring in the gym for free anyway. This way, they can make a little money. It's commendable, noble in a way. I like the spirit.

Weren't you just making a comeback in your thirties? That's good. Follow your dreams and do what you love.

Bieber isn't risking CTE by singing.

Neither would I be risking CTE (at least not as much as somebody like Tarver with decades worth of accumulated blows to his dome), starting to fight at my age if testing out the waters at first using careful progression of matchmaking and only after jumping the requisite fitness hurdles to be medically cleared and convince a commission to license me.
