Shumenov Hopkins schooling was uncharacteristically foul free for a Hopkins fight. BHop dropped shumenov hard with a right hand that reminded me of the prime MW Bhop of the 90s

If some pampered millionaire like Joe Fournier without a significant background in combat sports can turn pro and even become world ranked (currently WBA #10) nothing is outside the scope of possibility for a healthy guy in the same age range who spent his entire life off & on since childhood involved with the sport in some capacity (sparring, learning, assisting in training others) and is daisy-fresh compared with most actual pros of the same age, who for the most part have taken exponentially more cephalic trauma. My relative inexperience makes for equal parts boon & bugaboo - it means I don't have the built-in muscle-memory of guys that have fought expansively in an official competition setting, but I also don't have the same wear & tear (while not coming in with the novice lack of knowhow that a layman would have never having set foot in a gym).

See also: Junlong Zhang, Ali Raymi. Guys that became world-ranked but who can't legitimately fight to save their lives. Now, I realize there are various circumstances involved with all of those situations that make them incomparable to my ambitions - given the lack of "connections" available to me and the fact that I don't want to fake my way in the first place - (fight-fixing in shady ass China on behalf of Zhang, the lack of a serious boxing scene or regulatory oversight in shady ass Yemen to invalidate Raymi's fake matches, and Fournier "beating" tomato cans in glorified spars and greasing some palms to get himself ranked) but I'm just looking to see how far I can realistically take it, knowing full well the risks and that one punch can easily change or even terminate a life (case in point, Roman Simakov, not a bad fighter whatsoever, and on paper seemed reasonably well-matched with then mostly unknown Sergey Kovalev, and it turned out to be a fatal mismatch. This is a dangerous sport. The night is long and full of terrors...) - and there's no way to know that without taking a stab at it.

IRREGARDLESS - this isn't about me. You can't stage a "comeback" if you're coming on for the first time. :sisi1

Back on topic, I've decided to put up a poll, but we exceed the number of poll options available on Xenforo, by several names. Let's whittle it down to a most worrisome ten, shall we?

As stated earlier, Webster doesn't even belong on the list, he's a mediocre 35 year old who never had all that long a layoff, a pretty rank & file boxer actually, sort of just got swept up in the moment along with Ajamu on the same bill. So let's omit him, and I'm going to reiterate that Della Rosa, Butler, and Shkarupa don't exactly warrant getting up in arms. There's probably no point in them banging on, but they're not in any immediate danger of a bad outcome.

So that leaves us with these 15:

    Giovani Segura -

So just to pare it down to fit a poll, we need to eliminate the four least problematic of these.

Thanks @IntentionalButt, I certainly wish you every success in your endeavour. Clearly you have thought about it very carefully and assessed your situation accurately … I can only say again … Good luck!!!

Well I'll rephrase. Anyone that scored the fight that didn't go in with the pre set agenda of wanting Rosado to win (or Murray to lose) in the battle of the good boys l, didn't think he did

I'd take out Murray and Seferi. Murray has enough left to avoid getting seriously hurt. He should retire but it makes sense to take one more payday. Seferi is in more of a mismatch, but Fury was always going to choose someone of his calibre for the comeback fight. Fury isn't a KO artist, so Seferi should be alright, and I can see why he wants the shot at the so-called lineal HW title.

Finding another two to eliminate is harder. Maybe Hallback, she's only fighting TBA so I guess she'll be alright for now. And then maybe Pascal, because the fight itself isn't too risky. What scares me is who he might fight afterwards and really get hurt.

I'm thinking Khomitsky still can take care of himself, and hasn't been dillydallying on the shelf too long, and his opponent appears to be a feather-fist...

So we lop off Webster, Shkarupa, Butler, Della Rosa, Murray, Khomitsky, Seferi, Pascal...and maybe Welliver?

...and leave in Segura, Tarver, Ajamu, Harris, Brown, Vázquez, Satorn, Wright, and Shumenov as the "WTF are you thinking and who the hell is sanctioning this?!?!" list for the poll?

    Any objections?

Guinn has one of the best chins at heavyweight of the past 25-30 years. It's a shame he's gotten so slow/sluggish with age.

Certified absolute concrete head and chin, amateur & pro.

The man made an official scale of how concerned we should potentially be for each one of these individuals, after making a thread as full of information and research in the first place.

Above and beyond the call of duty. Butt has a wellspring of energy I can only fantasize about.

The answer is Vivian Harris. He’s too forgotten for some to realize it.

Cast my vote for the guy who I can imagine most likely having an extremely dire career low point upcoming in the near future...

Agree completely on Tarver, it does make you wonder what his endgame is and what he's trying to prove by carrying on.

Segura was the other one which caught my eye. The guy is now 36, his prime weight class was 108 (so he's returning at essentially three weight classes above his best weight division) and it seemed like every one of his fights was a give-and-take war. He really should've retired and stayed retired in 2014 after the Estrada loss.
