The UFC is monopoly... Some of the champions don't even get a guaranteed 100k! People claim boxing is corrupt, but the UFC is way worse.. this is coming from a fan of both.. The UFC robs their fighters blind. Some guys make more fighting as jobbers in 2nd rate organizations than they would in the UFC! this is why some guys are hesitant to sign with the UFC.
The ufc pays better when you consider how many fighters are in their roster. Boxers are able to earn more but that's the top top 1%, everyone else is more comparable to ufc fighters. Take a lower mid tier guy in ufc, he may make 20k, but he's able to get bonus for knockout of the night, submission of the night and fight of the night. So if you perform well you could take home 2 bonus worth 150k (I could be wrong in the bouns amout have to look it up) plus your base pay and bonus if you win. Its not chump change for 15min worth of work, for fighters no one really knows.
What's even more shameful is a guy like Brock Lesnar can come in from WWE to UFC and get paid more than anybody. All fighters can do is suck it up and hope they get a submission of the night or KO of the night and get a 50K bonus. For most MMA fighters, that means a take home pay of 100-150K minus training fees, taxes, etc. It's a hard way to make a living. Making it in boxing may be worse though. Sure the top end is higher but I remember Sergio Martinez saying he netted $500 for fighting Margarito.
How is someone on the prelims fighting for 4k to show and 4k to win meant to make a living from fighting in the UFC when he only gets a maximum of 3 fights a year with all of his winnings and sponsorship money going to travel and training expenses?
Some u f.c.guys have made big money but it's more to do with outside interests than what Dana Whte and the brothers paid them. They are slaves, performing monkeys.
