Guererro and Linares performances

With all due respect, its a lot easier to knock out an unproven prospect than a guy whose taken Soto, Barrera, Marquez etc the distance. He managed to drop Juarez which, in itself, is pretty impressive and win clearly on points. No shame there.
Guerrero, on the other hand, I wouldnt be surprised to see on showtime next. Hbo cant have liked his performance

Really? I think he has good footwork, punch placement, accuracy and seems to be a good athlete. I just think he is still lacking in a bit of confidence after that shock defeat, which is understandable.

What don't you like about him?

 

I ddnt like him before te defeat.

Little pop, fairly hittable, poor level of competition, Linares has done little to justify the hype he received, and suggested nothing against Jaurez to suggest he is a 'cut above', although dropping him was very impressive, if misleading IMO.

 

Rob... you need to chill out man. Not everyone is an ATG talent. Some are just good fighters who are fun to watch while they're active, then we move on.

Linares isn't a patch on Marquez, Barrera or John - that's no secret. But neither Marquez, Barrera or John put Rocky on his arse. It wasn't a dominant win, but Juarez is still a very good fighter. He's a perennial bridesmaid because he just doesn't let his hands go.

 

To be honest from what I've seen of Guerrero, he always fights that same way- at long range and not taking many risks. And though casamayor was there to be ko'd which would have made the win a lot more handsome, I just don't think Guerrero is skilful enough to adapt his style to overwhelm this type of opponent. If he stays at 140, I reckon any of the biggest fighters would handily deal with him
But I agree over linares. He was decent on the back foot for the first half of the fight but seemed to be gassing out towards the end. For once Watt was completely right when he said he should have moved to the front foot from round 6 on because you never know he may have got the KO. As it was the performance peetered out a bit which didn't do him many favours considering he was fighting an aging Juarez who in truth should never be considered a major player in the 135 scene
