Is Guerrero biting off more than he can chew by going up two weight classes to fight the power punching Aydin? Being that he's been out the ring for about 18 months, is he really risking it here? I haven't really seen Aydin fight, just some highlights. The Turks quality of opposition looks pretty weak so there is no surprise that he would have such a great looking record. Has anyone here really followed Aydin aka Mini-Tyson, and care to shed some light on this match up? I know Guerrero is a decent southpaw technician with decent power, don't know if his power will be there at 147 though. Robert has a significant reach advantage and maybe one inch in height. I havn't heard much talk about this fight, but I am looking forward to see how Robert looks at 147. Thoughts?
Aydin isnt tht good yeah he can hit but he plods forward and looks for big shots, if Guerrero's stamina holds up he should win
Aydin has heavy hands but is rather basic. He has I believe a quick right hook. I saw him fight once on Showtime. It was a while ago in a hell of a fight with Said Ouali. I think he has a really fast left hook doesnt he? Maybe not it is a blurry memory. Guerrero is listed at 5'8" on boxrec. No way. Dude is about half a foot taller than Mosley.
Hmmm...So besides the heavy hands Aydin really doesn't have much in terms of skills. What about Aydin's chin? Has he ever been been down or stunned? Was Said Ouali able to land flush on him in their fight?
Besides his heavy hands and being the naturaly bigger man, what do you feel will help the Turk pull out the win? Or is that enough?
I really haven't seen enough of Aydin to really speak on him. I do know that Guerrero should be fine at 147, as he was a huge lightweight, and will still probably rehydrate a good 5-8 pounds up from 147. The guy is big, and I think will be fully grown into WW by this time. It's crazy how he went from 126 to 147 in 3 or so years, but some guys can do that who are young, and have the frame. But yeah, while I don't know a lot about Aydin, I'd be surprised if Guerrero didn't fairly easily outpoint him because he's a really good boxer, and Aydin seems very, very average.
Like I said it was a hell of a fight. Very back and forth. Both guys were stunned during the fight. I want to say Said dropped him as well but not sure....
Yeah Guerrero does have the frame to comfotably fill-in at 147. I'm just curous to see is the added weight slows him down or reduces his punching power. He does say that he feels stronger now that his rotator cuff has is no longer bothering him.
Guerrero is a "punching bag"? What fight did you see where he was just going forward with no regard for defense? :huh That's what comes to mind when I hear " he's a "punching bag"? You know a Mayorga, a Brondon Rios, those are punching bags.
Guerrero fought the fight of his life alongside with Casey and he stood up with the kids. Still he clearly punched with power against Escobedo, Katsidis and Casamayor. His style is to get very well positioned and then let his heavy hands fly in straight-one-twos-one twos with uppercuts and short hooks in between. If Mini-Tyson can make him back up and just try to steal the fight, that would be the first time one opponent would have done that with Guerrero. I think he jumped a lot of weight classes but if it is an iterim WBC WW title fight, what the hell. You live by the sword and you die by the sword, that is the name of the game, you know? No regrets whatsoever...
