You saying Floyd is a slow starter is almost the exact opposite of what happened in the Cotto(e) fight. The first 3 or 4 rounds were clear Mayweather rounds where he outworked Cotto(e) CLEARLY. He didn't start out slow with Ortiz either, or Mosley, or Marquez.

In your opinion, what did Salido do in their fight that Floyd cannot? I'm just curious.

As ive been studying their fights today, im almost concluded that Guerrero might have a decent shot at outworking Floyd in a very close decision victory. But not yet, i have to see what kinda shape, mindset both fighters are in as we get closer to May 4th

Floyd is a slow starter. And thats nothing new to anybody. The Salido fight was how many years ago? Feel free to answer ur own question, im also curious.

He might very well, and it's the ONLY saving grace that Guerrero has. People thinking that Floyd will fall apart are overreacting a little. He's only 36 years old. He's been more stationary since 09'. He's already adapted his style. To compensate, he has gotten stronger, hits harder and his defense is still impeccable.

Serious question. If Floyd was 30, would you give Guerrero a chance to win?

I named all of Floyds recent fights. How many of the fights I listed did Floyd drop the first 3 to 4 rounds? You're thinking about pre-retirement Floyd when you think of extremely slow starts. Even then, that wasn't every fight.

Guerrero doesn't do anything different nowadays, he just bigger. And Casamayor was only in 2010, where the same shortcomings from 06' against Salido had him looking stupid and eventually got him dropped and hurt. It's just Casa was completely shot and couldn't pull the trigger and definitely couldn't finish, add to that, it was only 10 rounds.

Vs Mosley he was more hurt than we've ever seen, it took two right hands to finally get him going, Floyd was never that dominant in the Cotto fight, and didnt pick it up till rd 4 vs ortiz where he was still getting clipped with right hooks from Ortiz prior to the headbutt. Whoever said 'extremIly slow starts?' He is a slow starter period. Many will agree. Those first few rds are usually the only rds he drops vs anyone. You keep talking about Salido. Why dont you tell me. Im not the one talking about Salido or Casamayor.

Mayweather still won those rounds against Mosley. He even won the 2nd round he was hurt in. Floyd swept the first couple of rounds against Cotto(e), you're simply lying now. Those arcing right hands Mayweather was landing with such frequency on Cotto(e) had already started developing bruising on his left temple. Now Cotto(e) came back and did well in the middle rounds, but to say Floyd didn't dominate the first couple of rounds, is stupid.

Floyd was peppering Ortiz with right hands, it's the reason why Ortiz's eye was closing up only after 3 rounds of fighting. Your revisionist telling of fights is getting a little disturbing.

The fact is Mayweather, since his comeback has been starting out faster. The evidence is in him winning the beginning of his recent fights pretty decisively.

If Floyd's a slow starter, every other fighter must be a slug starter

He has won the first round in all but one of his eight welterweight fights

Mitchell, Baldomir, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, and Cotto all failed to win their first rounds vs Floyd.

So Floyd swept the first 3 rds vs Mosley, Cotto and Ortiz. Thats news to me. Whats the big deal anyway, Floyds a slow starter who needs a few rds to figure out his opponent. Nothin wrong with that. Only difference here is he will be facing a real southpaw who can box, brawl, fight with both hands and not be completely wreckless or fall apart like Judah, Hatton, Cotto or Ortiz. Itll take him longer to figure the ghost out. No being technically shut out here. Youll be back saying Floyd carried Guerrero and opted to brawl for the fun of it come May 5th.

Negative. If Floyd has difficulty, it'll be because of age. Not some stylistic anomaly Guerrero possesses. If Mayweather gives ground when he "obviously" doesn't have to, then I know it'll be because he simply can't move to get positioning with as much ease anymore. Guerrero is banking on Floyd being old in there, if he's not, Robert is ****ed.

Are we on the same page? A slow starter is someone who will give away the first round as he tries to feel out his opponent or get into his rhythm. Mayweather uses the first round to figure out his opponent. Even when Zab took the first round from Floyd, Floyd was still active enough to make it a competitive round.

Maybe you can explain some more with the real southpaw comment. Guerrero's straight left hand, the southpaw's bread and butter, isn't very nice. He loves to close in for a maul, compromising the range necessary for a southpaw's unorthodox angles to be in effect.

Guerrero is quite reckless. He showed in the Berto fight how he'll happily take a big one just to try landing his. Aydin was hitting him way too much.

If Floyd has a tough fight, its because hes old.. Even Jose Cotto(e) would give grandpa Mayweather fits!

I think he was referring to Ortiz being a converted Southpaw I believe.

But that's exactly what Guerrero means when he says that Mayweather is "ripe for the picking". It's a direct reference to Floyd's age disadvantage.
