    It was Merchant, but he said it at the start of the first Taylor-Pavlik fight.

    yep. i laughed big style when i heard it.
    IMO it was a bit of a moment of realization for JC, that in fact he was pretty good, that in fact lacey was over-hyped and that in fact, he should have had more self belief in himself earlier in his career, that he truly did deserve to be around the top of the division
