My issue with that site is they seem to have started an inactive facebook page in 2015 before rebranding themselves (with some financial backing) in 2018. Their very first post after rebranding? Bigging up Fury as being the Lineal Champion...
They also had an early history of posting digs at Eddie Hearn and Matchroom cards, which is a little odd for an unbiased website who only care about Lineage...

Personally, I suspect they are funded by team Fury as a form of controlled propaganda who purchased a domain name to give their view point more legitimacy over that of other fans.

Basically, it is Team Fury saying, I'm Lineal Champion even if I retired.

Thanks. I didn't realize any of that. I guess he has the money to pump out that kind of thing.

With any luck it'll all be moot after the Usyk fight if Usyk wins it ... if it goes ahead.

I guess Fury can always make the claim to fame of being the 'worst lineal champ ever'.

[I've gone from quite liking him in the past to being totally fed up with him these days]

Let me try to dumb this down for you. Bee Gees. Great group. But you don't look at the brothers and second-guess which one is the alpha. That's how linearity works. Quantum linearity.

Undisputed is a stronger sounding sentiment.

Lineal is only ever used when there multiple claimants but one has a backdated claim.

What makes it harder is in lower divisions champions often move up, which can't happen at HW. So the lineages are never as "neat" as they are at HW.

The biggest issue for me is accepting Holmes and Spinks as lineal champions. Holmes beat a version of Ali who was coming back from retirement in 1980. This would mean that a lineal champion clings to his 'title' even in retirement, thus validating Fury's current claim. But what if Lennox Lewis returns and loses to Jake Paul? Will Paul be the lineal champion in that case?

Fury could have kept his ring belt but wanted to relinquish it to Usyk so he could win it back another time which will put him alongside Ali as a 3x ring mag champ.

A retirement is a retirement. I watched his documentary about retiring and the impact it had on his family.

For those who don't accept retirements, I agree.

But for those who considered Johnson the defending champ against Jeffries, Charles the defending champ against Louis, Frazier the defending champ against Ali, Holmes the defending champ again Ali, those guys consider Usyk the defending champ against Fury.

This again confuses me. How was Holmes the lineal champ before facing Ali?

The thinking is Holmes was the new champ and Ali the old and that's how the new lineage was established.

While I agree with this statement, I don't see any objective way of proving it. Going by the discussion here, the lineal title has to be won in the ring. Did Holmes beat anyone to actually achieve that status?

There is no objective way of proving it. It's just what happened.

Sugar Ray Robinson Vs Tommy Bell was a new lineage and that also wasn't 1v2. But it was sanctioned by everyone as a new championship.
