Guillermo is a Panamanian national , he was trained for a while by Roosavelt Stacey McKinley , Mike Tysons old mit man.... He is a lazy light heavyweight who carries a bit of excess baggage into the ring at cruiserweight, but is actually a dangerous cat when he fancies the job.. He can bang a bit and was been a bit unlucky is a few fights of late.. The fight with Firat may be a bit out of his depth, as the european is a mentally tough guy , while Jones is a bit weaker mentally. Guillermo has had a few drug troubles in his past but he reckons he is past all that.. Good boxer puncher but a bit of an under achiever.......

Jones had had some very good wins but has always come up short in world title matches.

You forget that Guillermo started his career at welterweight...

In the ring, Guillermo could have been world champion at Cruiserweight.. Because of out of the ring things, he's been pretty dormant.... After the Braithwate win, he was suppose to fight Steve cunningham for the IBF Belt but he came down with an illness that sent him to the hospital...

He's been in with guys like Steve Cunningham, Johnny Nelson, Kelvin Davis, Wayne Braithwate.... All former or current world champions... He's either won, lost or drew with these guys... and in ALL cases, he's been competitive...

He is a bit of an underacheiver... Inactivity really hurt him.....

The guy would be a champion if he came to a fight in-shape. He beat Braithwaite while clearly out of shape. He has world-class talent, but he has never made it to the mountaintop.

He would be a champion if he didn't get robbed 4 times. He CLEARLY beat Boudouani twice and Nelson. Word is he beat Cunningham too. Him being out of shape hasn't really affected his performances.

He has world-class talent. He can still shake things up. Could have been special...That's over.

Yes , you all hit the nail on the head, it was very much a mix of raw talent, bad decisions , wrong place wrong time, and conditioning troubles.. He has talent no question and was very capable amongst the very best cruisers..

I was at the Nelson fight.. and that really stunk.... Nelson even looked embarrassed.. Guillermo won hands down...........

He's actually never been convincingly beaten. I've seen most of his fights and Jones has been adaptable to weight changes and world class at every level. He was jobbed against Bouduani, flat out robbed against Johnny Nelson, and the Cunningham fight was also disputable.

The thing about Jones is that he's awkward in that he's rangy and will switch stances, but has great skill in terms of accuracy and has power, especially in the right hand, when he sits down on his punches. He also throws a lot of punches. His mental makeup is good, and he fights with great self-confidence and spirit.

He's a fun fighter to watch for these reasons, and I believe he's simply better than Arslan, who is very tough, but also very limited. Jones should finally win his world title.

I hope Guillermo beats Arslan but who knows if Jones can win the decision in Germany.

Don't wanna get into the excuse-making game but I'm pretty sure that I read something about Johnny Nelson receiving kidnapping threats towards his family around the time he fought Jones. That's the type of stuff that could follow you into the ring don't ya think?

Jones is a solid fighter and will never be blown out by anyone and you don't want to fight him unless you have to. This is, of course, the case for Arslan as Jones is his mandatory.

You know what, i remember that stuff.. that is genuine..

Johnny was very shaken by that set of events. He really feared for his life..
I like Johnny and he was an excellent champion , and he is not at all an excuse maker.. But yes.. he was terrible in that fight..

Take nothing away from Guillermo, but the Nelson fight was or should have been a solid win for Jones.. But Johnny was absolutely attricious that night..

    I forgot about that stuff..
