He still won’t get the big fight. Very little to no reward for fighting him. Doubt the money will be there and no one outside of pure boxing fan would tune in. Also if you beat him people will say he is now old, pass prime, former self after Loma.

Carl admitted he would never fight Lomachenko either. It’s too bad no one thought of hiring Carl as a commentator at the Loma-Rigo fight. His insights would have been fascinating.

Reminds me a little of when Omar Andrés Narváez fought Nonito Donaire.

He clowned, and boxed super negatively, to where you could tell he wasn't even setting out to do anything but survive in a blatant cash-grab - and it was hard, as maybe his biggest hyper on here, to defend that. More like impossible. But I still wanted to grab all these people calling him a bum and dismissing him offhandedly by their cheek pudge and shake them and scream in their faces "NO! He's a goddamn p4p talent, he just knew that Donaire is way too big for him, and that he's way further removed from his own prime than Donaire is, so actually fighting him for real would be suicide. He's doing this self-consciously, basically dancing around putting on a show of how slippery he can without attempting to even win a round to at least entertain the in-the-know diehard fans with his gingerbread-man antics, while making the statement: I have earned this. I had a very long career dominating in the lighter weights for peanuts and this is my one chance to get paid, and I'm doing it safely and there isn't a goddamn thing anyone can do about it".

Rigondeaux, though, just bottled it, pretty much unjustifiably. Of course, he probably couldn't have done what Narváez did if he tried. Narváez's legs were more well-preserved as he aged - not to mention evading Donaire (who's pretty damn good) for 12 rounds is a little different than evading Lomachenko (who's a phenomenon)

Rigo is still the most feared man in boxing. from what you guys are saying, seems like guys would be lining up to tack that name on their resume........right? nothing but crickets.

Guy gives up 15-20 pounds, moves up two weight classes, takes on one of the best p4p fighters , and now he aint shizit? gtfoh and grow a pair.

leo makes him quit again. loma killed the aura and now leo will start pushing this old man from the get go, no cautious feeling out process. hes got a high workrate, solid beard, and the kid can box a lot better than he gets credit for, rigo cant beat him anymore.

spouting off senseless nonsense again. Give any p4p fighter a 15 pound advantage over their opponent and they will win. I think I have heard the term weight bully used here alot. But not in this case. guess you figure it was a even fair fight.

Great fighter but that Loma fight has really put some dirt on his name, losing is one thing but quitting like that is another, he probably even lost a lot of fans from an already very small fanbase.

I'm still a fan, always enjoyed his boxing style and the Loma fight, well it was asking too much of the guy in retrospect, it's one thing to pull it off versus that Japanese dude and Donaire, but Loma is another beast altogether.

Hope he hasn't lost too much of a step, considering his age and inactivity. But that seems unlikely, though given how skilled he is, I still think he could be a problem for any SBW/FW.
