Not directly, but if you're able to balloon up in weight on fight night because it helped you drain, you will take shots better because, all other things being equal, a fighter will take a shot better at 220 than he will at 200.

Did you actually watch the fight or are you merely basing your measured opinion on what Leb looked like after the fight?

If you watched the fight, you would know that Dennis hit Jones with some hellacious bombs--everything but the kitchen sink, to be honest-- and was certainly giving as good as he got in terms of punches finding the mark.

 

I remember almost every one watching had Lebedev ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage.
That's probably the reason the corner didn't pull him out, because if he had lasted to the end it probably would have been a close point win or a draw (if he had lost the last rounds) for him.

If you laugh about it, you clearly haven't seen the fight or watched it with Panamanian flag colored glasses. It was a all out war with Lebedev landing the harder and cleaner punches but Jones kept walking him down regardless.
Getting wobbled at times, but never off his feet.

Later it turned out he cheated to make weight, turning up as a full blown Heavyweight against a Cruiserweight.
The fight should be a NO Contest.

 

The Russian promoters knew that Jones was doping. As a matter of fact, the word is that they had an agreement with don king, that in exchange for bringing the fight to Russia, they will look the other way when Jones fails the drug test (hence Rusada). However, they never in a million years expected an out of shape 40 something fighter to beat Lebedev (proof to that being that they didn't even hire a cutman, and had someone's brother do the job instead), so they went back on their previous agreement and sent the results to wba.

That is why king was furious with Hryunov and yelling on camera, calling him a liar and a cheat. He thought Vlad would keep his word and let Jones get away with cheating even if he won. And that is also why Povetkin and Lebedev dropped Hryunov after that fight, saying that "what he did was unforgivable" although not specifying exactly what he did.
