Guillermo Jones vs. Valery Brudov & Luis Concepcion vs. Denkaosan Kaovichit RBR

Round 4

Jones is keeping in front of Brudov but not throwing, just letting Brudov swat at him with easily ducked hooks. Jones is inviting Brudov to lead by standing right there and then making him miss without moving his feet. Jones intercepts some Brudov jabs on his right forearm held up like a staff. They trade jabs, with Brudov actually landing a few more in the last minute but Jones' getting his point across.

 

Round 5

Jones is still letting Brudov be first, using his quick arms like pinball paddles now to compensate for the ponderous shuffling of his feet. Jones is throwing in combination but losing his balance - maybe slipping on the ring logo or just being careless with his footing. Brudov is game and busy but simply isn't landing enough of consequence to stack up against the hard jabs that Jones is landing in between less effective clubbing rights.

I've got no round for Brudov yet.

 

Round 6

Brudov digs a hook to the body and finds that he likes circling to his own left (away from Jones' jab). Jones looks irritated to have missed so much in a row and starts leaning into his shots, going at the body with rights and tossing the jab up high. Brudov lands his own right to the body and circles to his left again, stopping every few steps to reverse direction for a split second. Brudov pushes down on the back of Jones' head after a missed jab and Jones unsuccessfully shoeshines down low. Brudov is pecking at Jones with his own left jab and avoiding punishment.

That round Brudov convinced me.

Round 7

Both men are arcing shots at each other up close, with their elbows akimbo. Brudov has a reddened left cheekbone. Jones is landing his jab and expanding it into combinations but the power punches that follow don't land as cleanly. Brudov counters a Jones jab with a reaching right hand that finds the target. Brudov has figured out Jones' rhythm a bit for countering purposes. NICE left hook from Brudov turns Jones' head a couple of degrees. Jones lunges with a 1-2 that screws up his own balance yet again just before the bell.

 

Round 8

Jones fighting almost exclusively left handed in the opening minute, jabbing and hooking accurately while plodding forward. Brudov hops on his toes and changes directions frequently. Very few punches are being thrown this round. Most that are belong to Brudov. Jones now comes on with a couple of well-selected power punches. Big uppercut and hook combo lands and has Brudov on the move. Jones stalks him, in no hurry at all. A couple of decapitating right hands from Jones miss - they had no jabs in front of them.
