On May 2 at Miami, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Yuriorkis Gamboa will be back in business, I don't think it's a good idea but I'm curious to see it, their opponents are still unknowns, this will be a 6 rounds for boths. Rigondeaux will make his return in Bantamweight and Yuriorkis Gamboa will make his return in Super Lightweight. It's announced by the promoter of the card Matteo Attalla to be their fights of retirement for both. This content is protected
Retirement fights sounds like a good idea to me, as long as its against some tomato cans in their own age bracket. Honestly, I am surprised that Rigo is packing it up for good.
As long as they are for sure making their final fight then I'm ok with that as long as its a winnable fight for both. Just hope they leave the sport with enough money to retire comfortably.
The problem as always, they beat the journeyman they put them in there with, and then they and their promoters start thinking they can still make some money
Exactly what I was thinking specially if both will win in the first or second round by Knockout or stoppage.
Rig lost a close fight with Casinero for a title in 2021, then lost a close fight with a guy rated in the 60’s just 6 months later. Will be interesting to see if he can make a run at his age.
