Guillermo Rigondeaux defends his WBA title on the 19th of March against Willie Casey at the City West Convention Centre, Saggart, Co Dublin. The Question is what round will Rigo beat Casey in? For tickets contact ticketgroup.ie

its hard to pinpoint accurate amateur records but from what ive read it was roughly 400 wins with 12 losses. Phenominal

I know he has a legendary amateur record but why does that mean he gets a easy threatment in the pro's, whole different ballgame

probably cause he's 30 year old and a potential money maker, if they made him wait till he had 25 fights hed prob be in his mid 30s and on the slide, the guys an olympic champ and world amateur champ and his promoters will want to match him at championship early while hes in his peak. Plus hes just the interim champ so he'll be on about 10 fights when he fights for the normal or super championship (whatever they call it these days) providing he continues to win.

Suprisingly this is not as rare as you may think, pete Rademacher who won a gold medal at the olympics was granted a world title fight with Floyd Patterson on his pro debut and there has been plenty of good amateurs who have jumped the queue to get a title fight early in their careers in the past

Well, I can tell you for a fact that since Rigondeaux became Olympic Champion at the age of 19, he only lost 1 fight in 10 years! And later he avenged the only man to ever beat him! :-(

If he really has 12 losses, it's very likely that they came at the beginning of his young career since the competition in Cuba is so strong! But after he grabbed confidence, experience and the Gold, he only lost 1 time ( and really tight )...

No other amateur boxer has an amateur record like Guillermo Rigondeaux! :good

You most b a hater, GR has faced an opposition that has 164W and 51L in only 8 fights, if that is an easy pass I'll like for you to show me a guy with 8 fights and this kind of resume, or yeah maybe Gamboa.

Rigo got the chance to fight for a WBA Title against a great fighter in Ricardo Cordoba and he beat him his promoter's Top Rank are doing a great job with him and he did what he had to do to win the title
