I think it will be very hard to beat Rigo because he has a great punch and he is a defensive master

What you guys call " on his bike " is what they teach a top amateur when he has the fight in the pocket. It's not that Rigo doesn't want to engage, that's his style. He is a fighter just coming off an incredible successful and long amateur career ( more than 10 years at the absolute top ), so it's very hard to shake off those habits " in just 7 pro fights " !!!

I believe that from now on is when we will start seeing the best of Rigondeaux. This Casey fight is an excellent learning experience for him, this is a good fight for him to adapt more and also get more confidence. Guys, Rigo only has 7 pro fights! Not even Mayweather looked perfect in his 7th pro fight, it's something that takes time to develop!

Any pro fighter that is switching from amateur to pro needs at least 20 to 25 pro fights in order for him to adapt, feel confident and to shake off the amateur habits. I would rate Rigo with a 9 ( from 1 to 10 ) in the way that he is coming along with just 7 fights. He only lost 1 round against Cordoba ( the 6th ) and if that would had been an amateur bout the score would had been like 40 to 5 in favor of Rigo.

The thing is that Rigo will never be a " crowd pleasing fighter " to the casual fight fan, as his style is about finesse, hit and don't get hit and in the pros that's called being " boring " to some people while some others will call it " getting on his bike ".

Rigondeaux is for " the boxing fans " and not for the " fight fans ", there is quite a difference! :good

It was his first 12th rounder, the first Belt against a tall and awkward ex-champ and do you think he didn't have a little bit of doubt? Ah and his 7th pro fight, instead of looking for a flaw why not praise what he did, not too many fighters has done what he did.

Well, if a fighter like Cordoba with 40+ pro fights, an ex-World Champion couldn't find Rigo all night long and couldn't get " the job done " I really doubt others will ... It's easier said than done. :-(

That's exactly on the money, they will always look to critize instead of finding the positive things. Rigo has way too many positive things compared to his negative but people always go immediately to bash. :huh

Es como dicen, " de toda formas van a hablar " !

Sorry for the hate remark, he got the shot because he is 30 years old and was the best amateur boxer for the past 10 years, is not that uncommon for great amateurs fighters to get a shot at a Belt in just a few fights, More, Parlov, Spinks etc.. are just examples and now GR and Gamboa.

**** it. I'm getting tickets to see this, it's only down the road and it should make a for a decent fight. Love to see Casey do it, but i'd expect Rigo to have far to much class for him and force a stoppage around 7 rounds or so.

BTW, will the 3 "Irish-Cubans" be on this card aswel?
