He was great at am level but at the pro level I don't think he is going to cut it.

I hope he's never televised again. Doesn't deserve to get paid for what he did on Saturday.

He needs Freddie or someone else. That was some bs Saturday nite. Let them mothafuggin' hands go. The guy is too talented to coast to a boring decision. It was not like he was beating Cordoba by a wide margin in my book. He was just lazy. He's lucky the judges were in his favor that nite.

I'm willing to give him a pass this time....Cordoba was his first step up in class, after just 5 or 6 pro fights...

Wanted to put a similar thread after his fight but this website wasn't working very well on my PC during the weekend.... anyways, the fact is that I have a Cuban friend that thinks Rigo is the next coming & he'd beat the hell out of anybody including Juanma... I've also seen similar posts in this site from the cuban community. Am I missing something, 'cause clearly this guy failed to impress me a bit. Good, he is. Champion caliber, yet to be seen.

He hasn't found a balance. There was no gameplan there, Rigo did what he wanted, and with a fringe world class operator like Cordoba, he looked bad. Hopefully he learns how to fight on the inside instead of just letting fighters have their way with him. Good luck to him.

7th fight or whatever, but seriously. Up that workrate some.

Nishioka would knock him out, WVJr might do the same.

Thing is, the guy's just a spoiler. He COULD win against probably most guys in the world, but only if the judges are incredibly generous to him. Unless he has judges on the sidelines who know who he is/his significance, he's not going to get the benefit of the doubt... and as soon as that happens, he's gonna lose is underwhelming fashion in a decision he'll dispute and cry about.

He will get outwork by those guys. As we saw his chin is not rock solid. He was hurt badly from a single punch that didn't look so hard. He is going to be scared from their power and run for the whole fight. these are terrible match ups

im worried that hes got that AM mentality so ingrained into his head that hes beyond the point of changing.
it seems to me that if a guy gets inside on him, land a few good shots and makes the fight a bit ugly, rigondeaux will revert to that amateur style of moving way to much and landing the occasional pot shot. It may win him a lot of fights but it'll also loose him a lot of fans.

His body punching is insane though... when he uses it.
