interestingly enough with Rigo's counterpunching skills both fights would be easy enough for him!

Reported today on a certain other site. It says Rigondeaux is targeting Caballero by mid 2010. Not mucking about going straight for the main man. Lets hope so.

Poonsawat is not easy for any SBW. Martinez would be a good step-up, then someone like Munroe and maybe 1 or 2 more and Rigo should be champ in 2010, but he gotta be tested before taking on the champs. A quality next opponent is needed.

    Great.

Bomb ass card idea - Caballero/Rigondeaux and the main event Gamboa/JuanMa.

I wouldnt be surprised if his sparring gave him more experiance that his fights

Poonsawat is not an easy fight but with rigo's skills he could beat him.

I've seen alot of Poonsawat he is one tough ****er and would be a good test for rigo but from what I've heard from the Roach Father Its well withing Rigo's capabilities to make an easy night of it

Dunne was doing great til he decided to stand and fight (Like an idiot)

    first I've heard of it.....

Not impossible fight to be made Gary Hyde has a good relationship with Leon Margules in Seminole Warriors.

Anything you hear now is just speculation, Rigo is a promotional free agent now. However expect the promotional situation to be cleared up early in 2010

A friend of mine who is close to Di Bella was telling me that Lou would sell his own mother to sign rigo I'm pretty sure the other promoters would love his name on the dotted line too

Hyde is his manager. He has no valid contract with a promoter as far as I can tell. DiBella would be a nice idea, I have respect for the guy since he issued the Jermain Taylor statement, he cares for his fighters also has good connections and has a good vision for our sport. Obviously, a big stable with unlimited TV potential like Top Rank or Golden Boy might be the right choice for such a talent, however I'm unimpressed with Top Rank lately. After signing Gamboa, Yuri ended up fighting less regularly on these Latin Fury cards. Now he returns to HBO, but as a set-up for the Lopez fight for the mid year or end of the year depending on Cotto's return. That's the problem: these Cuban kids are big and good enough to walk their own walk and not to be an "opponent" being built up for a TR only superfight. I'd be happy to see DiBella representing Rigo.

RIGONDEAUX TO FACE ADOLFO LANDEROS ON FEB 5!

Adolfo Landeros (20-12) is named as Guillermo Rigondeaux's 5th opponent according to boxrec for his February 5 show in Miami, headlined by Glen Johnson vs. Yusaf Mack. Unfortunately Landeros is not the caliber of opponent we expected, Rigo should face contender type of fighters, though Landeros is better than his record would suggest. He beat a couple of contender guys and picked up some minor titles but as only being stopped twice is his biggest strength, this fight is pretty much pointless for the Freddie Roach trained Cuban. Hopefully it's just the appetizer for a bigger February fight.

Meh. I wish they were stepping him up a little faster. He's no spring chicken, and he's not even advancing as quickly as Gamboa did. He should already be fighting fringe contenders at this point.

Overall though, the more I see of Rigo, the less impressed I am by him. I think his deliberate style will come to bite him in the ass when he fights someone who's good and has a high output. His last fight against Lante Addy (which I was at in person) was pretty atrocious.

his style is still too much amateru, he slaps with his punches and sometimes puches the opponent instead of hitting him.. he has great speed and movement but i dont see too much power... he'll have to outpoint his oppoonents a lot.. it can be done if he can take a punch but if he doesnt it'll be harder

Addy had no intention to fight though so it wasn't completely his fault.

But yes he is to passive in the ring.

man i havent been very happy with his performances so far, he puts you to sleep and just waits and waits and waits, never opens up with fire , should change this soon if he wants to be someone in the pros
