Both at their best at Super Bantameight. How do you see this fight going? Would Morales be able to figure out a defensive power counter puncher like Rigondeaux?
Bull****, the biggest win in his career came prior to this fight. His inability to make any sort of adjustment in this fight tells me he will lose regardless of the weight class the bout take place at.
That win came at a lower weight, prior to facing raheem. The size difference was pretty clear in that fight. But you should realize, trying to use Raheem as a stand in for Rigo is erroneous for many reasons. One being, raheem and Rigo do not ifght the same at all. Another being the difference in size between Raheem and Rigo. Lastly, if we are talking Morales and rigo, then clearly 122 is the weight of the discussion. A weight where Morales was a beast.
Bull****.....so you're saying that Morales lost due to a mere 3 pounds. The fight had more to do with "style" than weight class. Morales thrives against come forward fighters. Raheem exposed his inability to cut of the ring against an elusive fighter. To beat Rigo, Morales will have to land his jab, something he could do against Raheem and that's neglecting the power punching and speed factors which Rigo has in spades.
This thread is about Morales and Rigo, did you forget? What happened w/ Raheem has nothing to do with Rigo. The mere fact that you just ignore the physical characteristics of Raheem compared to Rigo, says you are grasping, desperately.
Is that a rhetorical question because I'm not getting of topic. Raheem is slick and elusive, a characteristic both he and Rigo shares. Size is not always a determining factor in fight, check Ward-Kovalev. A great fighter like Rigo I believe has the ability to overcome size disadvantage. There is no doubt in my mind that Rigo will land his punches against Morales, but can you say with confidence that Morales will against Rigo....seeing as a less defensive Raheem had him punching at air.
The size of the fighter adds to the attributes of to the style they employ. You cannot just act like size isn't a issue in boxing, when there's weight classes for a reason. Rigo is NOT unhittable. Of course Morales would land. And often. Morales was a damn good boxer when he wanted as well. But using someone who doesn't fight like Rigo, in a weight class they didn't belong is, as some form of proof is highly erroneous. Morales who fought Raheem was NOT in his prime. He wasn't shot, but he was certainly passed it at that point.
Whilst you can make a case...a very good one, for Rigo winning I just can't see him beating Erik. People much less acomplished than Morales have dropped, wobbled and pushed Rigo. Morales is a very underrated boxer, much better than Donaire and he will land. I see Morales stopping Rigo late on in about 10.
Rigo and Raheem might not fight the same, but they do share similarity, which have clarified in previous posts. Of course Morales will land on Rigo, it a fight and you're bound to get hit sooner or later in a 12 round bout. The question is, can he land enough to beat Rigo. Mind you Erik Morales is not a one punch knockout puncher, so you might as well take out the possibility Morales landing punch out of nowhere that could have Rigo (whose chin I believe is suspect) knocked out. Not saying that it's impossible, however, it's highly unlikely. Since Mayweather retirement I believe Rigo has the highest +- in the sports.
