What has Ceja done to deserve being in an eliminator?

 

This will be Rigo's proper tuneup. We didn't learn much from the last one, except that Rigo can come out cold and plodding and still clobber someone.

 

It's the corruption in boxing. He beat a faded Anselmo Moreno for the WBC Silver title. Defended it against a bum. Then lost to a journeyman in the next fight when the doc stopped the match. The guy who beat him then lost to Vargas in a title fight. Somehow Ceja didn't drop very far in the WBC rankings even though there seem to be better guys there.

 

I'm just glad to be able to see Rigo fairly active in what I imagine is the twilight of his career... Still a special fighter, even at this advanced age.

 

This probably won't do much against ringrust though. I think it goes 3 rounds tops, probably over in 1.

 

At least PBC is matching him properly, with face first Mexicans. It seemed like Arum would purposely match him with opponents who wouldn't make for good fights. You have a small, master counter puncher, boxer mover, but you repeatedly put him in with other boxer types, instead of come forward fighters, then talk **** about your own fighter when the fight turns out lackluster.

The guy that keeps his fighters active according to Rigo.

Fighting twice in five months is a start.

 

Easy knockout fodder for Rigo. Chin issues, straight up and down, easy to hit....this has showcase fight written all over it. I'm glad Rigo's been making a point to get rid of guys like that early rather than carry them like he used to.
