    ''profesional expert opinion'' lol.

Anywyay I don't seee your points either....what stylistic issues? The guy is a great boxer, stylistically he would hold an advantage against many.
Lack of power? He has yet to go the distance and generally fights as a counterpuncher.
Only thing you can hold against him is his age and sometimes recklesness but under Roach he should get better.

Rigondeaux should have followed Gary Hyde back to Ireland. He would be well protected and isolated from the big city life style and with his compatriots Alexi Acosta (who would be a great sparring partner), Luis Garcia and Mike Perez. He would have accesss to many decent European super bantamweights to bring him along nicely and we would have made a European fan base too.

I remember the first time I saw Rigo in the past year on FNF and Teddy Atlas said before the bout that he remembered seeing him as an amateur and thinking it might actually be the best amateur he's personally witnessed. Having been thoroughly unimpressed with the first few fights I've seen of Odlanier Solis and only impressed with the natural physical gifts of Gamboa and not his skill, I'm the opposite on Rigondeaux. I have the higher hopes for him. I really disagree with you on him but I couldn't argue a point because you're very vague. What are your specific problems that you would make such a statement? Are you just trying to get attention and stir people up or are you legitimately coming at us with this statement on Rigo? If so, why not spell out for us exactly what you're seeing that you are so nonplussed about.

The only thing I know about this guy is that He is already 27 maybe even older, need to change His amateur style a little and is inactive as hell, and experience with cuban boxers at pro are not so great after they manage to know how liberty is, much of those boxers in Cuba box only because do not have any chance, but when they come to USA things change and so the hugger for continue with boxing.

    I quite disagree with you!

Rigondeaux has the potential to be a future superstar.
He had been out of action for quite a long time before he fleed his native island and turned pro on American soil.
He is matched quite toughly and will soon make a lot of noise like his compatriots Gamboa and Solis.

Some amateur styles are best for the amateurs alone,eh!

Well,I give you that! A living legend like Oleg Saitov would probably not have fared that well at the pros due to style. However,he is an exception.
The vast mayority of top amateurs turn out to be very good pros, too.

And Rigondeaux was not only a good or even top amateur,he was one of the most outstanding amateurs of his era.

    ramon garbey, yan barthelemy.

all honesty everyone was happy for them to be pro but solis and gamboa where the ones to get. yan was just another VERY good am. on the flip side diosbelys was thought of as the bigger prospect than casamayor.

Yuri Arbachakov never amounted to anything either, y'know, since he had 300 amateur fights and didn't turn pro until he was 26 and fought with a very amateur style. Nothing at all.

LOL.... Is this thread a wind up?

Rigondeaux is the bomb, he would be the last
Cuban you would say couldnt make it!

Gamboa, you would have a case to say that he
could be a hype machine - I dont think he is - but
one could have an arguement that he was.

Whereas Rigondeaux could fight for any world title
in his division tommorow - and Id back him to be winning
    it fairly easily.

Yea, a Cuban hype job who won two olympic gold medals on top of numerous other championships and barley broke a sweat doing it.
I don't see how his style is not suited to the pro's, there is clear similarities with him and boxers like Pernell Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather.
To some people, he's not the most exiting because he doesn't really force the fight, but he's probably the best prospect in boxing.

Well that is good for him because Hyde has done a good job with the 3 lads so far. Acosta is going to be class sparring partner for the next few months.

What do you mean by good job?

Acosta showed an under average performance the last time around, they are trying to force him to radically change his style, and to be more static both hands up, European style. He was unnecessarily hit several times.

Luis Garcia has been merciless sidelined, since he refused to fight Campillo.

Mike Perez was injured and had an OP, nobody knows nothing about him since ages.

    Is that what Rigondeaux need?:yikes

Well, the guy he faced last night has only been stopped twice, and never before the later rounds, I think it's safe to say that Rigondeaux has progressed beyond the point where he should be matched with journeyman types and can now move to fighting a possible contender in his next couple of fights.
