Rigo will do fine. He's been 'unimpressive' so far because his opposition was very weak. They were all basically terrified of him and he was only looking to get them out of there with minimal effort. The fact that he's had 5 fights and ended 3 of them with the exact same punch should tell you something.

Put him in with a guy who can actually fight, and he'll step it up a notch and dominate. He's got all the necessary speed, power, and athleticism. His amateur style is not the same as the way he fights now. Now he looks for a big counterpunch, whereas in the amateurs he looked to build a lead off of combinations and then ran away until the end of the fight.

I disagree... I feel Guillermo is very poise and calm(mature) and that right there wins a lot of fights itself. I feel his knowledge in the ring combine with his poise, speed and constant body attacks would make some noise in this sport of boxing. You could clearly tell he is serious and wants everyone to know hey im here as well, not just Gamboa or Lara. Put me down as one of his fans for sure.

This Rigondeaux guy has to be one of the calmest smooth operators I've ever witnessed ply his trade in the ring. If he can maintain that calm poise as the competition steps up(and as the fights present more challenges) then the sky is the limit for this little Cuban.

Oh and btw TS, he's already amounted to something of sorts if you're doing such a thread about him.

I feel like people are being protected from another side of Rigo. Put him in with guys who he can beat up real quick, and he looks impressive, but he looked like **** against Lante Addy in a fight where I was sitting ringside. For one round he looked good, but once he settled into a groove, he just stood back, and picked off about 20 punches around, just trying to land perfect punches where there were openings and not trying to set anything up at all.

I don't think he'll amount to nothing, but I do think he's getting overrated. At 29 years old, he's already slower than he was as an amateur, and it's just too late for the tiger to change his stripes. He'll still be able to beat most guys with his very amateur style, but if he faces someone who's aggressive, knows how to box a little and has a chin, his tendency to be way too passive could cause him major problems.

I think Cordoba would give him major problems, if he could survive the first round.

Jesus Christ, he is one killer body puncher!

I agree that he is a little old to be an ATG or anything, but he can still pick up a title.

Drknow****all - give us something quantifiable.

So far, you have expressed an opinion, and you know what people say about opinions...

Give us this expert analysis that you have been talking about. Give us the pro's and con's of his style, and why it is 'exactly' you think he won't make it.

You indicate that you are some sort of boxing messiah, yet you haven't backed up your claims with anything of note. You sound like a used car salesman who relies on bull**** as opposed to a real enthusiast who can, and will go in to great depth of their chosen subject matter in the blink of an eye.

Give us some facts to ponder, and that might elicit some considered, analytical debate, rather than feeding us hot air from your arse!
