I should defer to the Cuban posters, but my understanding was that Rigo wanted to ditch Hyde and went at this solo, with Top Rank. I think he had to extend his Top Rank contract to get this fight. It went something like this: Hyde's contract was valid for 2 years after Rigo becoming a champ. Rigo wanted Cordoba counted as the starting point, despite being an interim belt. That would have set him free. IMO he gets good exposure with TR, but they might never set up the Donaire fight. If he really had an offer from Mares if he joined GBP, shoulda took it. Otherwise best not to mess around with a good thing, could be a lot worse, see the Irish Cubans
Yeah...I cannot even find a record or whereabouts on Alexei Acosta on Boxrec. It's like he went 9-0 (9 KO's) and then just vanished off the face of the earth...:blood
Let me give you the latest 9/12 they have another court day I think the attorney is trying to show the contract with Hyde was for 2 years and is about to expire I will keep you posted.
man..... jealous ass ****ing manager holding out on his fighter cuz he aint finger-dipping, and Top Rank trying to hook him up on a high-profile venue.... Riggy's manager ****ed him with two stones - out of a good fight and out of a good venue. Man, if i was Rigondeaux, i'd see how many years or fights he's legally contracted with the manager and just cut his losses with a settlement, and broker a deal with Top Rank with that settlement. He may lose a bit of money on the short term, but at least he should have access to better fights and probably brake even or do better financially in the long term...
