Thursday at Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA. Ten rounds scheduled at heavyweight.

Possibly to be streamed by Hovhannisyan's countryman and promoter Azat Torosyan on Toro Promotions' social media channels.

Big Gug (that is the lesser of two evils from amongst his current pair of ring monikers, trust me - see the alternate listed in the poll :shakehead:) is generating some buzz, with Joe Goossen last week calling him a "top five heavyweight prospect in the world today". Madison is a reliable acid test, stopped a few times but also toughed out two consecutive distance losses to Joey Dawejko.

I can't get over "The Armenian Tyson Fury". How can anybody possibly consider that a wise marketing strategy? Hell, there's another heavyweight that shares blood relation and the last name Fury but is a less talented version of his cousin whom the world regards as boring and not the least bit of a draw. In fact, seeing Hughie's name on a card lessens my desire to watch it.

Likening yourself to Gypsy King aesthetically or stylistically is no way to sell tickets.

Fury's whole thing is that he's implausibly effective despite well, literally everything about him. :sisi1

Big Gug is maybe a 5.5 of ten, on the cringe scale. Armenian Tyson Fury is an 11.

I'm going to enjoy watching this guy fight I think. He looked like he was having fun against Polite-Coffie.

He moves really well for his size.

Best young HW prospect I've seen in a long time in terms of skills and overall package. Just 4-0 but I'd pick him to beat The Dosser right now. Yeah I said it. Come at me, bro.

Shame he hasn't fought since the Coffie fight back in Oct 2022. He's been scheduled to fight a few times, once against the very big punching Viktor Faust who pulled out with an injury. Fighting Coffie in your 4th fight and then Faust in your 5th shows how highly his people think of him.

He gave Jalolov a heck of a fight in the amateurs in 2021 (Strandja tourney 91+kg semifinals)

I'd pick him already to defeat big dumb lump Makhmudov.

Yeah I saw that fight. Jalolov caught him with some big shots but Gurg took them all and showed a good chin and kept coming. Got the impression the result might have been different over a longer distance.

    For sure

Broadcast on BXNG TV starts at 7pm EST on Thursday, with the bill topped by a HW triple-header. Dante Darnell Stone vs. Alexander Flores and Tsotne Rogava vs. Dante Williams (in a battle of unbeatens, both with perfect KO records) support this main event.

I’m tempted to go to this fight as it’s in my backyard. Worth it guys? Don’t know much about any of the supporting card fighters….

I know you're a big heavyweight fan so this card seems up your alley. The six guys in the main HW tripleheader all have power (or records that hunt at power), too.

You've probably seen Flores before and just don't recognize the name. He fought Charles Martin, Joseph Parker and Luis Ortíz (all early stoppage losses).

    :dunno

A small hall show like this isn't going to be prohibitively expensive. Some of the best value I've gotten attending live boxing events have been all or mostly local unknowns.

This mentality that you can't have fun watching anyone that isn't destined to become championship material is weird. People who think in that manner end up missing out when there's a barnburner four-rounder on early PPV card prelims, etc.

It’s a shame gurgens fight with Charles Martin last year fell through due to injuries with that an beating coffie it would of been a real solid year for a guy who was only 3 and 0 going into them fights.
