The measured way he moves, the way he holds his hands, that little hop-step, the left-centric attack is actually reminiscent of Napoles.

Very underrated, speaks volumes for how good Duran’s resume is

What, because Duran moved up better than Napoles did?

Duran also had the benefit of having to beat the likes of Iran Barkley, as opposed to Carlos Monzon... Duran also never had any kind of handicap comparable to the terrible paper mache skin Napoles routinely had to contend with throughout his entire career.

Duran moved up 2 weight classes and beat an undefeated sugar ray Leonard

That’s equivalent to Napoles beating monzon

Guts was a strong awkward fighter who was hampered early in his career by lack of discipline , proper preparation and training. Improved immensely under American trainer Eddie Townsend who trained 6 Japan World Champions. Later in his career was hampered by weight problems and would have benefited greatly by today weigh in's.

What kind of waves do you think he could make if primed today?

With today's weigh in Guts would have come in the ring at 150 lbs and with the extra weight be incredibly strong and a weight bully. He might not prevail against Mikey Garica and Lomanenchko but he would give them both hell.
