Gutted For Josh Taylor...

I dont if Catterall was good or was Taylor badly drained.

 

Yeah, I wanted him to win too. But not this way.

 

I didn't see the fight. Was it a close fight or did bad judging steal the day?

 

It was close but people love to hate josh taylor. There was a KD but it was more like a push

 

I generally approve the straight-talking FU streak in Taylor's character, but it's colored with a sneering cynicism which makes it hard to feel for him in this situation.

Catterall carried himself really well heading into the bout and fought the fight of his life for eight rounds or so, though it's fair to say that he opted for cruise control in the championship rounds instead of pushing himself to try to put his stamp on them. I'll rewatch and score attentively, but I suspect there may not be a good case for Taylor winning, in which case Jack would be the guy you have to feel for.

It was a dud to end his undisputed run this way. Gonna take a while to rebuild peoples faith in him. Everybody respected his resume even if he seems like an unlikable dude. But hes going to have to earn his way back to being viewed as an elite top 10 P4P type. I do think he can do that. Not sure if he will. Dont think he wins a dance with Spence/Crawford maybe not Ugas/Thurman.

 

Better hope Crawford signs with PBC and gets stripped of the WBO title, Taylor is in for a beating and humiliation otherwise.

 

An interesting situation because I saw Catterall winning 8 rounds (plus a KD, not one-sided but not razor close either) but almost every round had someone scoring it for both fighters. Taylor kept falling in and holding but sometimes he snuck a short shot in, hard to score ugly rounds for most of the fight.

On a street fight level though, Josh Taylor got his ass kicked. He stayed at 140 one fight too long I think.
